a wise poet once said,
"if you repeat something over and over again, it loses its meaning"
i feel the same sentence in the back of my brain
every single moment you say
i'm sorry
as if you won't do the same hurtful thing
tomorrow.

i feel it when you say
i love you
because after these years
it no longer sounds like you mean it.

i feel it when i feel it
because i've felt repetitions touch
so many times that it
doesn't even feel like it has a meaning.

but i feel repetition most
when you touch me
as if it's a routine.
as if you aren't looking to discover something anymore.
as if you know me like the back of your hand.

maybe repetition
is the feeling of falling
out of love.
