Chapter 4

Jim's pov

I was just about to go back to the station and call it a night, when I saw her. It was that girl I saw stealing from a house. I saw her eyes widen as soon as our eyes made contact. What was she so afraid of?

"Hey I know you!" I shouted at her. She started running, and I started chasing after her.

"Come back here!" I shouted will chasing her. Man she was fast, I couldn't keep up with her, and I was too far from my car to get in and still keep a visual on her. I decided to go back to the crime scene and get some footage of the girl to figure out who she was. She might have been a witness and could be the next victim, I had to do something.

"What was that about." Harvey asked me.

"Just some street kid I saw earlier, hey Harvey are there any street cameras around here?" I asked.

"Yah, but they don't have a visual on top of the buildings if that's what you were thinking."

"Can I look at the footage?"

"Yah sure, I'll get someone to send them to you."

   "Thanks Harv."

"No problem, I just hope we catch this killer soon, he seems nuts, even for Gotham."

The Next Day

A police officer brought me the footage, and I got a clear view of the girl. The only problem was, I didn't have the technology to figure out who she was, but I had an idea that somebody I knew, knew who she was.

I knocked on the doors of Wayne Manor, and a tired looking Alfred opened it.

"Hello mr. Gordon, how can I help you."

"Well I was wondering if Bruce knew where Selina was."

"Yes I do." Said Bruce walking towards the door. "Why do you need to know?"

"Just some information on a case, she's not in trouble don't worry." I assure him.

"She's staying in an apartment down on 37 street in the north of Gotham."

"Thank you Bruce, well that was all I needed to know, I should get going now." I said.

"It's always an honour Mr. Gordon, I hope you find what you are looking for." Alfred said with his thick accent. I walked out of there and started driving to Selina's place, hopefully I was right about her knowing the girl.

I pull up to the apartment and ask the guy where Selina was, showing him my badge. He gave me her room number and I started off to her room. I knocked on the door, and she opened it. As soon as she saw it was me, her face instantly went to a glare.

"Hello Selina." I say with a fake smile.

"Waddya want Jim." She spits at me.

"Just wondering if you know this girl." I show her the picture. She looks at it, and I can see her eyes widen just a tiny bit. I knew she knew her.

"I don't know her." She tried to lie.

"Look Selina, she isn't in trouble. She might actually be in danger, and I need to help her." I try and reason with her. She looks around to see if there are any people there for some reason, and when she sees that there aren't she starts speaking.

"If I tell you, you need to promise that she won't get in any trouble, and you can't bring her down to the station." She says quietly, but harshly. I nod at her. Then for the first time I've ever seen her so, her eyes soften and she looks worried.
