Chapter 2

"Willow is that you?" A familiar voice asked.

I couldn't believe Selina was here.

"What are you doing here?" I asked feeling relief wash over me, but also a lot of shock.

"What are you doing here?" She looks at me skeptically. Then she looks at my bag and sees the vase shape. "Wait are you stealing from this place?"

"Is that ok?" I ask getting nervous. Selina has never said anything about me stealing before. Heck, she was the one who taught me how.

"Yah it's fine don't worry about it, just get out of here quickly." She says looking behind her like someone is going to walk there any moment. I don't wait around any longer and start to go to the window. I hear Selina talking to someone.

"Selina who were you talking to?" A young male voice asked her.

"Why is that any of your concern?" She spat at him. 'Classic Selina' I laugh to myself.

"FREEZE AND PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR HEAD!!" A sudden British voice yells at me. I get scared and put my hands on my head.

"Alfred what is going on in there?" I hear the boy say, as footsteps enter the room.

"Well I just caught this scumbag trying to steal your mothers vase." He spits, and I hear the gun in his hands click.

"Bruce, tell your butler to lay off, that's my friend." Selina comes to my rescue.

"Well your friend is a bloody criminal." The butler says lowering his gun.

"So am I." Selina says offended.

"Yes miss Kyle, I am quite aware, now please make her return master Bruce's vase and tell her to leave." Alfred says, clearly not impressed. I start shaking from anxiety, and shakily put the vase on the table.

"Willow it's ok, they aren't gonna hurt you." Selina tries to sooth me.

"I k-know, I'm sorry, I'll g-go now." I stuttered from fear.

"Wait you don't have to-" I heard Bruce try to stop me, but I was already out the window, and felt too bad to turn back. I can be so stupid sometimes, who knew that Selina knew Bruce. They probably hate me now for trying to steal their stuff. Ugh where am I gonna get my rent now?

Selina's pov

Bruce tried to stop Willow from leaving, but before he could she was already gone.

"So uh, who was that?" Bruce asked confused.

"Her names Willow, she's an old friend of mine." I tell him in a matter of fact way.

"She doesn't act like a street kid," Bruce said still confused.

"Well she isn't like the rest of the street kids I know." I started explaining. "Since the day I met her, she has always seemed so... What's the word, uh innocent."

"She seemed scared out of her mind, why is she so anxious?" Bruce asked.

"I don't know her past, she doesn't really like to talk about it, but when I first met her she said that something bad happened to her." I said remembering that cold night I spent looking for my mom. "The even more weird part was that she didn't even know where she was." I laugh a bit at this part.

"I just wonder why she was trying to steal from me instead of robbing a bank or something."

"Bruce, not every street kid wants to get involved with the underworld of Gotham, she was probably trying to pay her rent for," I paused to think for a moment. "For wherever she's living these days."

"Well when you see her again, tell her that she doesn't have to be afraid of me or Alfred, and she is welcome to visit, well, as long as she doesn't try to steal." Bruce laughed at the last part. He always had a horrible sense of humour, what a boring kid.

"yah cause I'm sure she wants someone's pity." I retort sarcastically.

"It's not pity it's just-"

"You want another friend?" I ask laughing at how pathetic he is sometimes. He blushed embarrassed.

"It sounds bad when you say it like that, I just think it would be wise to have another ally from the street."

"This is the only friend I will let you bum off of me, and I'm only doing this because she needs to be more social." I tell him coldly to make sure he doesn't see that I care about him.

"Thank you Selina."

"Yah whatever kid, don't get all emotional on me."
