before we even start the korean lesson, you really have to know this letter:
'ㅇ'
[silent, ng]«────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ──────»
it is silent when it's at the beginning of a syllable.
• example •
아빠
「 "a-ppa" - dad 」*the "ㅏ"means an "a", see how the ㅇ didn't contain a letter? it's silent, you don't pronounce it.
«────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ──────»
it is 'ng' when it's at the end of a syllable.
• example •
동생
「 "dongsaeng" - younger sibling 」*the 'ㅇ' are at the bottom of each syllable so they're both "ng"
«────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ──────»
it's possible that the letter can appear twice in one syllable, but the rule doesn't change.
• example •
용
「 "yong" - dragon 」*the "ㅛ" is "yo."
