Night 8
The hunger inside us shrinks with each passing day.
Ambition.
It is within us all, reaching for victory.
Hunting for the reward that is at the end of each challenge.
Or, is that just a fable?
As we grow older
We realise life is just a participation award.
A giant certificate stamped onto our grave
Tattooed in our minds
Telling us we did nothing
Worth remembering.
We starve ourselves of trying.
Of succeeding.
Of failing.
And we begin to crave the safety of isolation
Wrapped in the arms of remembrance
As the malnourishment begins to change into
Contentment.
