I open the door to Colbys room with my elbow since I'm putting my hair up in a messy bun. I just changed my clothes into something comfy. I'm still wearing that flannel that's now buttoned up a little and sport shorts and sport bra. One of my shoulders is out, because the flannel slipped down.
"–it was a weird night." Colby is leaning against the headboard of his bed, looking at his phone, probably snapchating. Then he glances at me and tips something at his phone I frown. "Uh! Look a' her!" he suddenly exclaims in a weird voice and starts to stand up. "She killin' da game!" I feel the heat rise in my cheeks and start blushing.
"Could you stop?" I ask and chuckle as he comes to me. I hold my hand up and try to cover the camera.
"Fine." He turns around. "Girl's shy." he says as I see he is using the front camera and I'm in the background. I shake my head smiling.
"You're an idiot, Cole. I'm gonna grab some hot chocolate now." I say and leave his room again to go downstairs.
"Wait for me!" Colby whisper-yells because Corey, Devyn and Aaron are probably sleeping. I go down the stairs and answer him without looking.
"If you stop putting me in your story." As I arrive in the hallway I turn around and see him holding his phone towards me from upstairs. I shake my head and hold my middlefinger up before I proceed to go to the kitchen.
"You know, it's really hard to not make thousand pictures with you for snapchat and yell into the world that your my girlfriend." Colby claims as he sprinted to catch up with me and did so the moment I step in the kitchen. This time the phone isn't in his hand. At least no snapchat is turned on.
"Hm... I don't think so." He puts his arm around my shoulder and holds his hand up. "No! Cole!" I put my hand up again like in his room, but too late. He already took a picture. "I hate you, you know that?" I say smiling and head shaking.
"No, you don't." I stop to take a cup and look at him, still arm around my shoulder.
"You are right." I admit and push out my tongue as he takes another picture. Then my phone rings and I take the call. "Yes?" I ask, no idea who it is, 'cause I didn't look at the screen.
"Elli, are you and Colby still awake?" I frown and turn around to lean against the counter, Colby leaning across from me.
"Yes, we are. Why?" I feel something bad happened.
"Kiwi (was that Kats dog name? I'm not sure...) ran away. I don't know where she is and I'm scared." I walk out of the kitchen.
"Wait here, Colby." I tell him while walking up the stairs. "What can we do, Kat? Come to you or drive through the streets close to your apartment?" I ask and open the door to Colbys room, getting our shoes we left up there.
"That would be great. Sam and I look near my apartment, where you can't drive." I nod even though she can't see me as I run down the stairs.
"Okay, we'll do so. Call me if you found her, I'll do the same."
"Thank you so much." After that we hang up. Kat sounded so worried and I totally understand.
"Colby!" I yell for him and start to put on my shoes as he comes to me.
"Yea? Who called?" I give him his shoes.
"Kat. Kiwi is gone and I wanna help looking. I just thought you migh–"
"Of course I'll help!" he interrupts me and puts on his shoes.
"Thought so. We should look in the streets close to Kats apartment." Colby nods and so we go back outside to Colbys car to drive and find our friends dog.
After an hour slowly driving through different streets I see a woman with a white fluffy dog in her arms. The dog is moving as if it wants to get away.
"Could that be Kiwi?" I ask Colby and point at the woman. He parks the car.
"Let's find out." We exit the car and sprint to the young woman.
"Excuse us." I say and stop the woman.
"Is that your dog?" Colby asks and the woman looks confused.
"No, I found her or him trapped in a fishing net a little down the street. Why?"
"Our friend is looking for her dog, Kiwi. She ran away somehow and this dog looks pretty close to Kiwi." I explain quick.
"Does the dog have a collar? Kiwi has a name tag." Colby says. "I mean, I saw Kiwi only once or twice, but this dog looks pretty much like Kiwi." he explains further. I didn't see Kiwi once so...
"Wait... Yes, there is a collar. And the name tag says Kiwi." the woman says smiling.
"Awesome! So can we take her?" Colby asks. The woman looks sceptical at us.
"Can I come with you? I just wanna make sure she really belongs to her. I hope you understand, but there are some weird people out there who would kidnap a dog." I look to Colby and he looks to me. He shrugs and so do I.
"Yea, why not?" And with that we go to Colbys car and drive to Kat.
We stop at Kats apartment where she and Sam are already waiting. So we three get out of the car and go to the two of them.
Kats face lights up as she sees the dog and the little dog in the womans arm starts to move even more.
"Kiwi!" Kat exclaims and takes the dog, who immediately licks her face. "Don't ever do this again! I was worried to death." she says while hugging her dog. It seems like she never wants to let go of the dog again.
"Well, I can clearly see that the dog loves her." the woman says and Kat looks up.
"You found her?" The woman nods. "Thank you so much." The woman just smiles and turns around to walk away. Without anything else. "Thank you too. I don't know what I would've done without you two." Kat smiles at us and so do Colby and I.
"Well, I think we gonna head back." Colby says while taking my hand and lacing our fingers together. This small little gesture makes me smile.
"I'm gonna stay with Kat." Sam says putting an arm around her waist.
After we said goodbye for the night Colby and I walk back to the car. I lean against him, head resting against his arm.
"You tired?" he asks sounding amused. I just nod.
"I just tried to close my eyes, but I saw the clown." He laughs and opens the door for me. I plopp onto the seat and sigh as Colby closes the door to go to the drivers seat.
"So you don't wanna sleep?" He sits down and starts the car. I look at him.
"I would like to, but I just know me too well and I know I will dream from that clown." He starts to drive with a smile on his face.
"I know a place where we can spend the night." I look at him questioning.
"You gonna tell me where?" His eyes are on me for two seconds before they are back on the nearly empty road.
"Nope. See it as a surprise." I moan annoyed.
"But I wanna know!" He just laughes and I accept my fate. I lean my head against the cold window and take the rings from the necklace in my hand.
A while later Colby parks the car and I sit up straight looking out the window.
"We're here." I tilt my head as he gets out of the car. I do the same. We are at some kind of a bar? Café? Little restaurant?
"Where is 'here' exactly?" I ask and look up at him, he looks down at me and smiles as he takes my hand.
"A karaoke bar."
