Stormkit scampered to the elder's den with her littermates. Echopool had recently given birth to Branchkit, a pale brown tom with gray paws, Emberkit, a fluffy ginger she kit, and Thornkit, a dark brown tom. Stormkit was now five moons old, and looking forward to her apprentice ceremony, meanwhile Echopool's kits were two moons.
"Leopardwhisker!" Branchkit squealed. "Tell us the story of the great Clans-"
"LionClan, LeopardClan, and TigerClan!" Emberkit interrupted. Thornkit and Branchkit nodded excitedly. Thornkit nosed a mouse towards the old tom.
"Please?" Thornkit looked up at him with round eyes. Leopardwhisker purred.
"Of course. Did I ever tell you about how..."
Stormkit didn't listen. Her gaze was fixed on Thunderheart, who slipped out of the dirtplace tunnel, rank with the stench of foxdung. Stormkit wondered her father had been doing, but shook her head to clear her thoughts.
She rubbed her nose, the thought stuck in the corner of her mind. Don't worry about Thunderheart, she told herself. You'll be an apprentice soon.

"All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather her beneath Highledge for a Clan meeting." This was it. Stormkit held her breath. "Today we have gathered here to welcome four new apprentices."
She said four. Not three. Four. Stormkit stared in shock. But her shock quickly faded into enthusiasm as Heatherstar began speaking.
"Mudkit, come here please." Heatherstar began. Mudkit smugly walked forward, his chest puffed out.
Stormkit pricked her ears. Something wasn't right. What was that noise coming from outside the camp? A scent drifted down, and Stormkit wrinkled her nose. Heatherstar looked up in surprise, clearly also scenting it. "Is that-"
Before she could start, a yowl rang across camp.
"SHADOWCLAN, ATTACK!"
Sorry for a short chapter, I'll do better next time I promise
