It walked onto the wooden platforms and looked down at its reflection in the water. The animal's white hair was a mess and it was all scratched up from their most recent adventure. That was alright, The Wolf didn't need to bed experimented on, after all. If The Wolf looked too...well... Unlike its other family, it would surely be taken in.
The animal lay on the bridge and closed its eyes as a group of walkers feared it was going to attack. It simply lied there and waited for the sun to reach it. The humans tried to walk on past it, except one little girl.
She smiled, walked up to the battered wolf, and pat its head. It sneezed and slowly got up. The Wolf's tail wagged happily and it ran up to the family. They showed fear in their eyes, unlike the young child. The child whose eyes shown kindness and peace.
It wasn't the rugged look or the odd color. It was the eyes. A dark blue color. They had looked as if they were hundreds of years old and filled with so much pain and longing.

Yes. Odd, I tell you this.

The poor animal was unlike the others, it acted so old, but looked so young. The wolf was so young. Just over a year by the looks of it.

Though, it - I - had a fire inside.. One that would continue to burn for years to come.
