Hello, my dear readers! Welcome to chapter 2, and thanks for reading. A lot has happened during the creation of this chapter. The biggest thing being: that it made me decide to turn this thing into a full novel (instead of one-shots). Enjoy!
Love,
Goldie 💖It was now late evening. A week has passed since Ron... Began being a total jerk, Hermione thought. She sat in her dorm room, studying. She was... Trying to study, but countless questions still kept running through her head. She kept reading the same page over and over, and focusing seemed impossible. She sighed and put away her Potions book.
Ron... Why... Why... She thought to herself.
Why... Why did I ever like you, Ron? Did I even like you? Or was it because... I was used to you? Was I... Looking at you as simply... As a way out? A way to distract myself? A way to hope, that not... Not ALL love is hopeless. Yes, I had hope that you might like me back. But I was foolish. Perhaps, I'm simply not meant to be with anybody I love... Not you and not...
Hermione stopped her train of thoughts before she allowed herself to even think his name. No. Just... No. It wasn't possible. It could never be. It was simply a foolish fantasy. Even if it were to happen, she could never be happy... Could she? No, no. Why was she even thinking about him, when Ron was the one who was first on her mind? Her mind was playing tricks on her. She could never really like him. Why would she ever even think that she did? No, no, it was all humbug. Surely... Certainly... Definitely... Maybe?
Hermione sighed, irritated by her own thoughts. Right now... She just needed to focus on Ron. She needed to get back at Ron. Not for being with Brown, but for what he did... And kept doing all of last week.
*Flashback: 5 days ago*
Ron walked into the Griffindor common room, dragging Lavender behind him by the hand. They didn't even look around before they started snogging.
Ron heard some sort of movement. Hermione, who was previously studying on the couch in front of the fireplace, had gotten up and was gathering her stuff.
"Oh, Hermione! Hey!"
"What do you want, Ron?" she asked, giving him a warning death glare. Ron missed it, however.
"Well we have our Muggle History test tomorrow!"
"So?"
"So, we always study together! You know I'll fail unless you help me prepare!"
"You know what, I think it's about time you started doing some things on your own. You're not a baby anymore... Even if you act like one. Plus, I'm not the only one in your potions class". Hermione gestured to Lavender.
"Yes, Won-won, let's study together!" Lavander screeched. But Ron cut her off.
"You're just jealous, Hermione! Admit it!"
"I don't have to tell you anything. And for the record, I don't even care anymore," Hermione faced him confidently.
"Well, fine then! I'll fail the test and it will ALL BE YOUR FAULT! What kind of friend even are you? You're the one who said you wanted to stay friends!" He was now yelling.
"Actually, Ronald," Hermione replied calmly. "You are the one who said that".
Ron scoffed. "Well, fine! But if we ever have to pick partners for class, don't even think of running to me! You'll be all alone because you have no friends, because nobody can stand you. And rightly so; you're a traitor because you just abandon anyone you say you care about!"
