I've been asking myself this question a lot lately. The last threat seemed to remain there until we pestered them enough that they shut it down and left us a few parting words. I didn't want to believe them, they are thieves afterall, but in the face of everything, it's hard not to.
Their was a clear opening in Wattpad's defenses and they seeming left it wide open. I don't understand enough about that stuff to know what exactly it meant and if it's been fixed, but I have found some information about what Wattpad does to protect us, so I thought I would share it.
This is directly from Wattpad:
This is from the same user that wrote the information on Truyen. Again, this comes from SuperSuspicious and here is the link: https://my.w.tt/UiNb/YiOTogSOWG
The book is about debunking Wattpad myths, so if you have any questions related to this app, you can ask them there.
The information I'm providing is in relation to the "resolved" storydownloader website, but it still applies:
I think personally, I've been really struggling with keeping my stories out there on the internet for just anyone to take and I've been looking for some hope. Maybe some assurance that it's worth it, in some way, to put my trust in this application. Is this the hope I was looking for? I don't know. I do know it makes me feel a little better that at least someone hasn't lost faith.
I just hope they're right and Wattpad really does care.
❤❤❤
