A week has past and I am finally settling into my new-found life, and I was loving every minute of it. Today, unfortunately, Samuel's words not mine, I was off. It wasn't like I was basking in the sun with servants feeding me delicious grapes as my feet and toes underwent a pedicure and a manicure. I currently sat in a waiting room with Tyler. We had to do a follow-up for the double ear infection he had a little over a week ago.

I spot the beautiful man from the last time here. I sigh internally and I'm sad that he's gay. He must be waiting for our pediatrician again. I take a seat away from him, and Tyler is looking through books on the shelf. I'm sure he's looking for pirates. I giggle as I watch him. His eyes are downcast as he returns.

"No pirates." I say grinning at him.

"No."

"You know summer is almost over and you'll be enrolling in school."

"School sounds interesting."

"Like friends."

"Maybe." He says, and he studies me, speculation deep in his forest green eyes.

"Mommy, you are really pretty. I'm glad you stop putting the black stuff in your hair."

My eyebrows rise. I never knew Tyler was aware of the pale blonde tresses sprouting from my head. I unconsciously touch my roots before I feel a burning sensation sweep my face, spread to my neck and ears. I'm melting. I just knew it. My baby boy is going to be a heart breaker.

"Here, a cup of water."

"Thank you." I say as I accept the cup of water. My eyes trail over the body of a male and my own violet shade collides with his gunmetal grey, and I can feel the burning returning. Damn it! Stop blushing Amelia!

Behind those specs, his eyes are alive and there's a twinkle in them.

He's laughing at me!

"Ah, I'm sorry. I'm usually much more compose. My son uh he just threw me off."

"Mommy you're so red!" Tyler shouts.

You little stinker! Stop selling me out!

"Kids, can be unpredictable." He says. And I smile, feeling myself cool off somewhat. "I'm Ashton." He says, and I nearly swoon at the name. It's so nice. Wait a minute not another A!

"Amelia." I say wondering if fate decided to say fuck it all, and group all the A's together. But, he's gay.

"Hey buddy!" Ashton says to Tyler, and it was my turn to hide behind smile as my baby flush. Now that I think about it, this was his first time encountering a male. Did he have questions? How did he feel? He was sick when he met the pediatrician, but this time he was healthy and wholesome.

I finish my cup of water and I shake my head slowly at Ashton hoping Tyler didn't see. Relief, turns my body into mush, Ashton manages to avoid asking Tyler about his father. It was a talk I was dreading. How do I tell a kid that his father didn't believe in him...in me?

"Isn't my mommy pretty?"

My eyebrows rise to their hairline as I hear the possessiveness in the word my. Was my son marking his territory? Was this instinctual?
