What the fuck am I supposed to say?! Okay, daddy! Your wish is my command?! I couldn't ditch Ashton. Why did I even contemplate a dastardly thing?! The man was fucking with my emotions. I can't do this anymore.
"Amelia, please."
I clutched the phone tightly in my hand at the shakiness in his voice. What's wrong with him. I hated how my heart thumped and ached to soothe him. I didn't want any part of this.
"Are you okay?" Gah dammit! Why did I even ask?! I want to bash my head against the floor.
"One meeting. That's it Alexander."
"Its all I ask for."
"Everything alright?" Jared ask as I return to the kitchen.
"Yes. Work related issues." I say trying to convince myself that this was all a dream.
"Didn't mean to spring the heiress information on you."
"No." I squeak. "It's totally fine. I have to get in touch with Ray."
"Talk to Kingston. You guys seem to have a good working relationship. He runs in the same circle as Knightly. He's Tipton's first cousin and has a great understanding of the market. The man is good at what he does. He's known as the guard dog of the enterprise."
"What?"
He's not talking about Samuel? No. "That's enough about people in positions of power. I just want to focus searching for a house and then maybe some lunch.
"Done."
"Well that was fast." I say as I'm stretched out on a chair and Tyler is playing on the beach while Jared closes on the house. The man certainly knew what he wanted and went for it. The house was a sleek ultra modern home. It was beautiful.
I stare out into the ocean as my mind becomes a swirl of information. What to do. I should have known that all these people would be connected in some way. It was naïve of me to think that Ray wouldn't be connected at all. And me...why did he make me his heiress? Shouldn't he be mad at me? What about his own children?
Ugh, this better not be Alexander.
"Hello?"
"Mells!"
"What is it Samuel?" I ask a little weary. I've tried to keep my tone happy, but sour Sally had a hold of me and she wasn't letting go. Bitch.
"You've been talking to Livingston."
"What's it to you? He's Tyler's grandfather and he never wrong me."
"And I have?"
"No." I pout.
"Where are you now? I'm at your place and I'm pretty sure I've given the nanny a stroke."
"Samuel!" I whine. "You big head brat! You're always stirring things up! Are you as old as you say?" I leap up from the chair.
"Tyler! Come here." I shout. I step into screen in porch and wait for Tyler.
