Driving to my penthouse, I glance over to the passenger seat and see the file. In that file, held the secret. The one Deucalion had mentioned. Oh, I haven't thought about him in a while. Okay, so he was like an Uncle-Father figure to me. I met him when I was three and he helped me control my werewolf side. His daughter, Annalise, was my best friend until Ryker killed her. That moment when Monroe and her people showed up and plunged the bullets into him – I felt it; because we shared an emotional tether – because he was family to me. At that moment, I collapsed in Isaac's arms as I screamed. It's the scream you heard around the world – that shattered anything that could be broken; and then the moment he died – I felt like I lost a limb. He was gone. My family was broken. So, taking Monroe down is important not only for all supernaturals – but for my family.

Nolan?

Yeah?

I have a favor. You know Hunter Davis?

Junior on Lacrosse? Yeah, why?

He's a Hale.

You found one. That's huge.

Nolan – focus. I need you to get us a meeting with him.

Okay. Wait, you're in Beacon Hills? Isn't that unsafe?

Focus. Can you do it or not?

Yes.

Good. I'll see you shortly. Later Nolan.

After the phone call, I get into my penthouse and see that someone was already there. Things were in disarray. Oh no – he's back – isn't he? Without thinking, I swing out my claws and put the file in a drawer; quickly locking it. "Who is here? I don't want to hurt you. Come out!"

I feel someone breathe behind me and I swing my hand in that direction; before a hand stops me. My breathing was heavy as my chest heaved up and down. "Jackson! What the hell? How are you already here? You scared me!"

"You can't do this on your own."

"I have Peter."

"Like I said, you can't do this on your own."

"He's our father. He found a lead." I say as I reopen the drawer and hand him the file.

I hadn't opened it yet, because I didn't want to be disappointed. No one besides Jackson and I know about the secret that we've been searching for. Something that is almost as rare as me. A true alpha is rare. A lunar wolf who is born a natural alpha is rare; which I am. Solaris Wolf is rare, but this thing is rarer than a true alpha. Hunter could be the missing link.

"You haven't opened it yet. Why?"

"Haven't had time, Jackson. I just got home."

"Is he at Beacon Hills High?"

I nod, "Yes. Nolan is going to talk to him and get us a meeting."

Rolling his eyes, he walks towards the window and shakes his head. Ever since the battle that exposed us, Jackson hasn't been able to play nice with Nolan; or forgive him. He associates innocent Nolan as a traitor and one of them. "I don't trust him."

"I do."

"Charlotte! He was one of them."

"He was confused."

"Mhmm...sure. Lost and confused. He almost got us killed."

"He's one of us." I say as I grab a drink from the fridge. Jackson sets the folder down and gives me a scowl. Oh right – he doesn't know what happened six months ago when I dropped in Beacon Hills to see how everything was going. Not good. The hunters associated anyone with the supernatural as the "Evil" and they shot two arrows in him. He was dying. There was something about the kid that I couldn't ignore; something familiar. No one was around and he was slowly dying – so I bit him to save him. For three days, I watched him to make sure he wasn't going to reject the bite and he didn't. He was like me...a lunar wolf.

"No he's not. Why say something so absurd? You sound like McCall."

"Because he was dying. I bit him."

"Charlie?! You what?! How stupid do you think that was? Why didn't you tell me?"

"We had our reasons. One of them being how you'd react! I couldn't let him die...there's something about him. Until I find out what that is on top of my list of a thousand other things to discover; you are to play nice. Actually regardless of everything, be nice to him. He's still adjusting to life as a supernatural."

"Way to go."

He's being so unreasonable. If the situation was different and he wasn't dying, I would have taken him to the hospital. At least I don't have murders to my name! This isn't what we should be focusing on at the moment. Why does he have to bring his constant complaining to the conversation at hand?! Nolan was an innocent kid on the wrong side of things; just like Gabe. Nolan is like a care bear – can't harm anything; not even a fly. When the time is right, he'll be able to fight. Why can't Jackson see that? Look at the bigger picture.

"Oh shut up – like you're any better." I say with a smug look scribbled on my face; before rolling my eyes and taking the file away from him. "At least I didn't kill him."

"Now we're back to that again. Seriously? Why are you so annoying?"

Smiling I say, "That's what sisters do. It comes with the territory. Why are you being so difficult?" Then I sit on the counter top with the file in my lap, as my feet swing back and forth waiting for him to answer.

"Is that supposed to be funny?"

"No. I would've put a ha-ha at the end of it."

"You're crazy."

"And you love me. So can we put everything aside and focus on the problem? Focus on this file. On the secret? Or do I have to do this on my own?"

Biting his lip as he holds back what he wanted to say; he turns to me and replies with, "Fine, but this conversation is far from over."

"Okay."

"Very well. Let's get this show on the road."
