I looked around the stone tunnels, goosebumps threatening my arms. The air was far too cold my my lungs to adjust. "Go on, we certainly don't have all night!" Alex hissed as she pushed me forward. I had such a bad feeling it felt unreal. I'd had this feeling back home, but it normally just meant me getting into a fight or cheating off a test. This was real. Something was going to happen. I never had that weird future telling crap before, and I certainly didn't have it then. But I did have a gut feeling, and that was enough.
I opened my eyes, quickly sitting up. I felt beads of sweat form on my still tan forehead. Why was I sweating? Nothing even happened in my dream, or that I could remember, that is. I turned my head, awkwardly craning it to see out the window behind the bed. It seemed I'd finally caught up with everyone's sleep schedule. I found myself not wanting to go back to sleep, but at the same time not wanting to leave the warmth of the bed. I crossed my arms and looked around the very small room. The day I had yesterday was certainly without a doubt one of my favorite days I'd had here in this insane place. Asher and I played would you rather, and after I'd freaked him out enough we decided to go pester Violet and Amber. Long story short, in case it wasn't obvious, that didn't go so well.
I got out of bed, I went to rub my black eye, which Violet had given me, but stopped myself. I'd actually learned my lesson. I crept over to the door, last time I'd woke up on my own, that had been when I'd found Alex talking to the coven. I opened the wooden door, which made a low creak. I carefully stepped out of my room, looking around the empty cottage. Where had Alex gone this time? I thought as I went toward the front door and outside. I, out of instinct, flinched and drew my fist back, narrowing my eyes and stepping back. I felt extremely surprised at myself, nothing was there. Is that what that place would make of me? I shook my head and slowly stepped outside again, turning my head in every direction. I had one of those feelings that made you believe with all your heart that something bad was about to happen-- but it didn't.
Once my foot touched the cold grass, a shiver went up my spine. I looked at my bear feet, my toes had almost instantly turned red in response. I looked back up as I went onto the dirt road and started back to the coven house.
Once I got there, I noticed Alex almost immediately. She was really hard to miss. I watched as she shoved that familiar face into a table. Oh, great. Adrian's back. I thought, But why? I walked over so I was standing beside Violet and Amber. I opened my mouth to ask what was going on, but got my answer. "I didn't take him! I don't want him! Now leave me alone, feather brains!" Adrian yelled.
Alex picked Adrian up by the cape she was wearing, "Then who else would take him? Huh? You've been doing little things to bother us for a while now. You've been the feather under our noses, creating small irritations. But I guess that's been building up, huh? You've been doing that so when something big hit, it'd get us bad!" Alex growled. Adrian glared at her, not having anything to say.
"Got that right, didn't I?" Alex said as she threw Adrian to the ground. "Fine. Maybe I did take him." Adrian admitted as she stood up. "Where is he?! Where did you take him?!" Alex yelled. "Far, far away." She replied, crossing her arms and grinning. I, without even realizing it, tilted my head. Who'd been taken? I looked around before noticing, everyone was in the house except for one person. Asher!
