Lilac couldn't get any sleep that night. Between her bouts of anger towards Jasmine and Jasmine's odd dreams of making out with some of the male competitors, she was hardly able to close her eyes even though she really wanted to. It was at this time that she decided to get out of the Eagle's cabin and take a short stroll through the camp grounds.

She walked outside and sat down on the cabin's porch, still in her night clothes, a navy blue tank top and pink short shorts. She just sat and listened to the sounds of the wilderness, and wondered how the island could have possibly been artificial.

After a while, she decided to get up and go sit at the docks. As she got closer, she heard something other than nature. It sounded like a guitar. As she neared the docks, she saw a tall, semi-muscular figure sitting on an amp at the edge of the docks, playing a guitar outside of earshot of the camp. Shadow. She could tell by the trench coat that he was wearing, despite it being the middle of the summer.

As she stepped ever closer, she began to hear not only the guitar, but his voice as well, singing softly to himself.

I can't see where you comin' from
But I know just what you runnin' from:
And what matters ain't the "who's baddest" but
The ones who stop you fallin' from your ladder, baby

And you feel like you feelin' now
And doin' things just to please your crowd,
When I love you like the way I love you,
And I suffer, but I ain't gonna cut you 'cause

This ain't no place for no hero.
This ain't no place for no better man.
This ain't no place for no hero
To call "home."

This ain't no place for no hero.
This ain't no place for no better man.
This ain't no place for no hero
To call "home."

Every time I close my eyes, I think,
I think about you inside,
And your mother, givin' up on askin' why -
Why you lie, and you cheat, and you try to make
A fool outta she...

I can't see where you comin' from,
But I know just what you're runnin' from.
And what matters ain't the "who's baddest," but the
Ones who stop you fallin' from your ladder, 'cause

This ain't no place for no hero.
This ain't no place for no better man.
This ain't no place for no hero
To call "home."

Lilac recognized the song, by a band that she loved to listen to. Short Change Hero by The Heavy. She sat down in the trees and listened to Shadow play his guitar. After a while, Shadow stopped playing and just sat and listened to the environment. Eventually, Lilac got the sleep she wanted.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shadow was sitting on his amp, planning out how he was going to win his team's trust. He didn't have to worry about Jasmine considering she wanted him around just to annoy him. Zoey was convinced that he had some semblance of humanity somewhere in his heart. Solomon was already his friend. Scott would be easy enough to convince. The ones he really needed to worry about were Dawn, Mal and Lilac. He could tell that something about him troubled Dawn since she gave him some sort of studying glance every time she looked at him. Mal would be somewhat tricky. He hadn't even begun to trust anyone since his arrival on the island. Shadow would have to be the first. And Lilac. Shadow didn't even know where to start with her. No clue how to approach her. Nothing.
