As Ichigo and Kisuke arrived at squad 4 Lieutenant Isane went up to them.
Isane: Welcome back Kisuke and Ichigo?
Kisuke: It's ok Isane I asked him to come along
Isane: Oh alright this way then
Isane led both Ichigo and Kisuke to a separate room and knocked quietly on the door, then the doors slid open and Unohana was there.
Unohana: You're back Kisuke and with Ichigo?
Kisuke: Yes I wanted him to meet her
Unohana: Ah I see. Come on in
Everyone entered the room and gathered around the girl's bed. Ichigo looked at her. The girl had bandages on her face and head as she was all roughed up, she had long black hair and fair pale skin.
Ichigo: So why did you want me to meet her?
Unohana: A group of Soul Reapers that had been sent out to the far west of the Soul Society were ordered to help a village that had sent an emergency message for help. But when they got there...
Isane: The whole village had been destroyed and everyone was dead. Except for her...
Kisuke: They brought her back here and we have treated her so I did an overview of her and nothing seems out of the ordinary. So how you come in is simple. We would like you to look after her Ichigo
Ichigo: ... You want me to look after her?
Ichigo looked at the girl as she slept.
Ichigo: I can see... She's gone through a lot... Alright I will look after her
Unohana: That's ok we will make the preparations for when she-
The girl winced as she woke up and she looked at everyone setting her brilliant blue eyes on ichigo.
??: H-huh...?
Unohana: Isane get the supplies
Isane: R-right!
Isane ran out of the room to get the emergency supplies.
Unohana: Easy there... you're hurt
The girl kept her eyes on Ichigo and tears fell down her cheeks as she reached her hand out to him.
??: I-ich-i...
Ichigo's eyes narrowed in confusion but with his concern he took the girl's hand to comfort her.
Ichigo: ... You will be ok...
The girl held Ichigo's hand weakly and he looked at her worried. Isane then came in with the emergency supplies and Unohana quickly got to work with the help of both Kisuke and Isane.
After an hour and a half of working to heal the girl she had finally been healed and fell back asleep again, so Ichigo put her hand back down onto the bed careful and stepped back.
Ichigo: Why did she call me Ichi?
Unohana: Her vision must have been blurred so you could have resembled her friend from your silhouette and colours
Ichigo: I see...
Everyone waited for another three hours when the girl finally regained consciousness, and Unohana checked her to see if she was ok. Unohana went to get Ichigo.
Unohana: Ichigo she's awake so you can come and meet her
Ichigo followed Unohana back into the room. The girl was fully awake and sat up looking outside, she then looked at Ichigo as he came in.
Unohana: Hello again, this is Ichigo Kurosaki the Substitute Soul Reaper I told you about
Ichigo: Hey there
??: H-hey... You're the one who held my hand earlier aren't you?
Ichigo: Yes I was
??: Thank you for that...
Ichigo: It's no problem
Unohana: I will leave you both so you can get to know each other
Unohana left and Ichigo went over to the girl and sat down next to the bed.
Ichigo: I heard about what had happened to your village
??: .... Yeah...
The girl looked down and gripped the covers as tears ran down her face.
Ichigo: Hey it's ok... Trust me things will be better from now on
??: They will...?
Ichigo: I know they will, what's your name?
Rei: I'm Rei Soriyu...
Ichigo: It's nice too meet you Rei, you pretty much already know who I am
Rei: What's a Substitute Soul Reaper?
Ichigo: Well I'm still a human so I haven't passed yet, but I wield the powers of a Soul Reaper
Rei: Then how are you here?
Ichigo: I use what's called a Substitute Soul Reaper Pass that separates my soul form from my body
Rei: I didn't know that a badge could do that...
Ichigo: Now you do
Ichigo smiled but Rei looked down sadly.
Ichigo: Do you want to tell me what happened back at your village?
Rei gripped the covers trying to hold back the tears trying to escape her eyes.
Rei: The day started like any normal day... Everyone got up, they went out, and they did what they normally did... But everything changed at sundown... A creature... No one.. No one knew what the hell it was... It killed everyone sending strong attacks making everything burn... The screams everyone made... A-and... the last face I saw... Was my... S-sister...
She couldn't hold the tears back anymore and they ran down her cheeks and she covered her mouth as she cried. Ichigo stood up and hugged her, she hugged back crying into his shoulder.
Ichigo: It's okay... I will be staying with you from now on... I won't let anything like that happen again...
Rei: Th-thank... Y-you...
