I came in late because I haven't set an alarm. As usual, eyes on me again. I faced down and walked to my chair. But...
"Excuse me Miss. This is my seat." I tapped the shoulder of the girl who replaced me.
She's new, I knew she is.
"Oh, sorry. I didn't know that this sit is occupied already." She explained.
"It's okay. You just move here." I pointed the seat next to mine since it is unoccupied.
"Thank you."
I just smiled at her.
When the bell rang I smiled because its lunch time, I love the sound of that. I waited until all of my classmates went out, while waiting I just looked at the sky outside.
"Hello. Aren't you going to take some food for lunch?" Someone asked while she tapped my back.
"Huh?! Aw, later."
"Can I go with you? I don't have any friends here yet."
"If you'll come with me, they will hate you and no one will ever talk to you. They will laugh at you and tease you. Make fun out of you. You like that to happen?" I crossed my eyebrows to her.
"It's okay with me as long as you'll stay with me." She smiled at me.
I was touched by what she said. No one ever said such words to me before.
She grabbed my hand and we both walked together until we arrived to our cafeteria. We opened the door and all eyes on us, again.
"I told you. You shouldn't have come with me." I said to her that I wanted her to go away from me because I don't want her to feel the same way as I am feeling.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. And, just ignore them."
We already bought our foods and tried to find a vacant table. We found one, the one near the trash bins.
We don't have any option though so we went straight to that table. We ate and ate.
"Why are they like that to you?" She asked.
"I don't know. They find me weird, I surmise."
"You're not weird." She smiled.
"You think of that for now because you don't have friends here yet but when that day come, you'll never talk to me anymore." I answered her and looked away.
"Don't say that. Having friends like them? No thanks, I rather stick with you." She threw me a cute smile.
"Let's see about that. Wait, we talked about things like this but I don't even know your name."
"Oh, that's right." she laughed. "Anyway, I'm Lucy Highmore and you are?"
"I'm Skye Smith."
Since that day we talked about lots of things and we became best friends. I like her because she's true, she's nice and kind. She keeps on helping me in boosting my confidence. Every time that we don't have class, we hang out, bring foods, carpet, and guitar in our school's roof top. No one dares to go up there because the 5th floor was abandoned for a long time and it's just a storage of junks and unrepairable materials in the school. But we choose to stay there because it's peaceful and it's way too far from those rich kids.
It's getting dark and we decided to go home. I gave her a ride because I don't want her to go home alone. She's the only friend I have. I treasure her more than anything.
