"It you're going to encourage me using the fact that I still have my father to rely on, you have never been more wrong. He was the one who caused the main blockage to all the goodness of life that I just almost had. If you haven't already noticed, I'm particularly interested in playing band instruments. And that was, for sure, my dream since young; to be in a music-related profession, playing my flute.

But my dad? He couldn't possibly care less about my passion, for his golden words were Living in passion gets you no where far. All he ever did is to say 'Be a doctor, it earns you more money.' But he didn't even care about my thoughts and feelings. He was like a stereotypical Asian father, only caring about money and the 'sustainability' of my future.

We were as close as two North poles of magnets being forced together, unable to stay put. The clock winded daily, but somehow it seems that the force of repulsion between us just kept increasing," Chris shared.

Can I just ask you something, Valor? What was your dream since young?" Chris recounted and questioned.

"My dream? I doubt it will happen, but... I want to be a scientist, and invent drugs that can help save the world," I answered.

"You should feel lucky, Valor. Well, at least you are working towards your goal by taking the course and subject that is somehow related to your goal. But me? I don't have a chance anymore," Chris mentioned.

"Why can't you? Did something happen? Is it alright for you to say it?" I asked.

"I'm actually working for my own school fees, and I don't have enough money to go for my dream. I don't have a dad anymore, and neither will I ever have," Chris answered.

"Why not? Did your dad..."

"He abandoned me. And it's all because I decided to follow my dreams. He didn't want me to be a musician, but that was just one dream that I wished to come true all along. All he cared for was me making more money, because he needed to fulfill his gambling needs. But what ever did he do to just show a care for what I really like, and not just what he expects me to be? I'm guessing my mum's death was a big blow to him, and he needed someone to vent his anger on. But, it's not what you think, Valor. He totally changed, and he was seriously someone was nothing but a stranger to me. And one day, he came home drunk, and just threw all my belongings out of the house, as if he was chasing me out. I thought it was just a joke, and he just needed to sober up to know what he was doing. So I just slept outside of the apartment, and packed up all my things.

But to my dismay, he went 'Why are you still here? Get out of my sight! You're not my son anymore!' I don't think you know just how much that hurt me, to hear all those words coming out from his mouth. He was my father, my biological father, and not just any other typical guy in my life. And yet he was the one who did not accept me for what I wanted to be, and took things to the extreme end. There was just nothing I could do, except for accepting the fact and just left the house.

Darkness swirled in to my world, splitting me into a million fragmented pieces. What was I even thinking? Maybe just years was not enough to cultivate our relationship, to the extent that he could just throw me out of home.

Thankfully, or shall I say.... Sadly, things went for the worse. THE EXTREME WORSE. I had not a choice, but to stroll round the neighbourhood. Unsure what I was expecting to find, there was still that particular feeling that left me feeling all hopeful. Nevertheless, what other choice was I left with? I might have dozens more years to spend living life on the streets, so who knows what I might chance upon..." Chris recounted.
