A Little Big

As the crowd gathers she stands in the back waiting for the tall flock to flee
Leaving her free
To see
Everything to a "T"
A small fee to pay as someone shorter than the rest
Still short even when she tries her best.
She strives
To fly
Above the high sky, yet always seems to fail
Although at first she succeeds,
She stalls
Then falls
Ignores the distant calls from loved ones all around.
As she returns to her small frame, small stature that reflects back to her everytime she looks in the mirror.
Everytime she is told "No" And "you can't"
"You're not tall enough, not pretty enough, not man enough, not pale enough, not dark enough, not good enough
YOU ARE NOT ENOUGH...."
But sometimes, she gets that pat on the shoulder
Not because they are using her as an arm rest, but to pull her back out of the dark enigma of her own mind.
And that right there is when she knows she is...enough.
That right there is what helps her to grow.
