The Circus of Nightmares: Chapter 4

It was about midnight, and Jessica had still sat in the passenger seat of Jackson's car, thinking about what to do. She felt like she wanted to just cover herself up in a blanket and stay like that for days or even weeks on end, but she was stronger than that. She knew that she would have to go to that circus to find the answers she needed.

She remembered what happened back in her room with that strange man and his words repeated in her head like a never ending dream haunting her subconscious, 'It's a shame. Someone so young and beautiful has been chosen to go through this torture.'

As they were repeating, she was completely in thought about the situation she had been dragged into, along with thinking of all her questions that she had, 'What did he mean by 'chosen'? What torture would I go through if I go to the circus? I want to find these out, but I feel like something bad will happen if I go.'

Jessica was brought out of her thoughts as she felt a hand on her shoulder, which caused her to flinch at the touch, but she looked over to her left, looking at Jackson with a worried and upset facial expression. Jackson had looked at her for a second then smiled gently as he was attempting to reassure her that everything is going to be fine, "It's all going to be alright, Jess. Your safe now." He said and she nodded after a few seconds, looking at him.

He smiled still and got out of the car, Jessica following suit as she got out. Once she saw where they were, she smiled a bit and closed the car door, running up to the front door for two reasons. One, was because she just really needed Zach right now, and two, was because of her not having any socks or shoes on, and also no jacket, so she was freezing.

As soon as she got to the door, she knocked and looked behind her, seeing Jackson walking up and smiling with his hands in his pockets and looking down at her. When the door opened, Zach stood there with his pajama pants on, grey and white socks, and had on a white tank with his brown hair all messed up. 

He looked at the two and raised a brow in confusion, "What are you guys doing here so late at-?" He was interrupted with Jessica hugging him to death. She didn't want to let go of him, out of fear that she may loose him, like how she almost lost her life tonight.

She tried not to cry, but she couldn't hold it back, so she just let her tears fall and clung onto Zach for dear life. Zach felt his shirt get a bit damp and he was shocked as he looked at Jackson, hoping to get an answer from him.

Jackson just stepped closer and looked up at Zach, "It's best if we go inside and talk about it." He suggested and Zach nodded, picking Jess up and walked inside, Jackson following and closing the door once inside.

When Zach and Jackson had walked into the ling room, Zach set Jessica down on the couch and he walked over to his kitchen which was just an open space with an island in the middle. He got out a bag of Doritos and walked back into the living room, setting them on the table and he sat down next to Jess.

He put his arm around her and held her close to him as she rested her head on his shoulder and Zach looked at Jackson, "Now, why don't you tell me what happened." He said as Jackson sat there looking at him and he nodded. 

Jackson cleared his throat and spoke, "There was a break in tonight, at Jessica's, and she was there during all this madness." He said as he paused to see Zach with a shocked and scared/worried face as he held her tighter and closer to him. Jackson continued, "The man who intruded was shot by the police, seeing as he was practically a few inches away from her." 

Jessica scoot closer to Zach as she began to speak about it, "It was, terrifying to say the least. I didn't know if I was going to die, be kidnapped, or worse. He kept talking like a madman, and he didn't seem stable at all, mentally and emotionally." She started to shake, thinking back.
