Seven caravans have made it outside Ardujar Hold’s gate as the remaining guards tried to fight their way in to buy the escaped people some time. Still, the creatures sprang from within the hold’s high walls and fly over it with the help of their transparent insectoid wings. As a result, the caravan convoy was split into three. A horse was sprinting so fast as it bumped over a large boulder. The wooden caravan slammed to the ground as it’s wheels began to break apart.

Oh no.

People from the first carriage witnessed the slaughter of the ravaged caravan. Countless void creatures began leaping towards them. Slashing, decapitating, stabbing. You could see the blood squirting all over the place. They were like ants that managed to kill a large prey. The poor people tried to defend themselves. You could even see someone casting a fireball towards them but obviously it wasn’t enough. The horse, miraculously, got loose from the ropes that bound him from the carriage. It was now running with the second caravan.

After several minutes of getting away from them, all caravans have reached the woods. It was almost complete darkness. The sky wasn’t helping enough. Hell! it seems like it’ll rain in a few seconds! Niko, while his eyes still shut, can hear crying women and children. Mourning over their loved ones, presumed dead. Can’t blame them. When you see a hold that’s on fire like that, there’s literally no way a city guard can escape. He opened his eyes a little and took a while to realize they were venturing into the forest. This was his favorite place to hunt. It’s full of wild deers and rabbits. He knew the forest very well that in a few minutes, they’ll get out of the dark place and continue their journey on the grasslands again. He managed to get up and sit at the edge of the carriage, close enough to see the whole view from the back. The throbbing pain from his chest, still bleeding, was covered by a temporary bandage. It seems like a military medic got the chance to get away and managed to ride here. As he turned his head towards the passengers, all he can see was crying, mourning, and fear. He was surprised as he noticed someone looking back at him. It was the young crossbow soldier from before! Somehow he was relieved, knowing that a kid like him managed to escape. He turned his gaze to the back view again. Endless trees passed before them. The sound of wooden wheels grinding unto the dirt made him feel more relieved that he managed to get away from the slaughter. “Any second now…” he mumbled. And they did. They successfully got out of the forest.

Oh Lord. This can’t be happening.

A woman, beside Niko, suddenly began crying so loud that it made him ask. “What’s wrong? What’s wrong?!”. “The caravans… They’re all gone!” the woman cried.

He later realized that they were the last caravan who got in to the forest. Out of the six remaining carriages, they were the only one who got out.
