101 letters,
101 hearts.
Juniper opens her eyes and looks around the unfamiliar room. Her heart, she feels it beat rapidly, her thoughts start colliding with each other not stilling once. She takes a deep breath just as she gets a knock at the snowy white door that is the extent of her privacy. "Come in", she said quietly, her head was pounding. Her eyes grow wide as the person's face comes into her limited range of vision, her neck has been trapped in a neck brace. "Um.." She grows confused at the three people's presence.
Anders and Nash both engulf her into a gentle but reassuring hug. Juniper looks at the man in the white expensive tux standing near the door. He bows to her lightly, "Hello, I am Anders and Nash's father, it's nice to meet you." Juniper shakes his hand and lays there for a moment, just thinking. She never really thought what the boys background could be, she hadn't even processed how even though they had only been in her life for a short amount of time how largely they had impacted and changed her frail frame of mind.
As she tried to sit up some she screamed out in pain, she was getting sharp pains in the back of her skull. While the doctor and nurses rushed into the room and made the three wait outside of her hospital room, Juniper wished for the pain to stop, everyone around her was moving too fast. She wished for them to stop, she wished for the world to stop, for reality to freeze, she just wanted to breath. To think. To figure everything out. Everything.
The doctor tells one of the nurses to give Juniper something to make her sleep while they deal with the pain and look to see what is wrong. A while later the doctor goes in to check on Juniper, to see if she was alright now. When he looked over her vital signs he noticed something odd, her brain waves looked as if she was sleeping, a peaceful and wonderful sleep. Concerned, he went to her bedside and gently tried to wake her. "Ms., Ms." Noticing that her breathing had not even phased, he called a nurse and they checked over her, he was confused and eager to understand what was going on.
As he talked it over with another doctor, they concluded that she had gone into a coma. Now he had to conduct the worst part of his job, telling her visitors. He walked up to the three males and stood there with a sad expression on his face. "Hello, I'm afraid that I have some bad news." Anders and Nash looked at each other, their faces filled with fear and agony.
Nash goes to sit on her hospital bed with his brother, angered by the pointless phone call. He sighs and pats his brother's shoulder. "I guess we're all she has left now, Garret said that he doesn't care and never did, then he hung up." Anders took a deep breath to ease the rage bubbling within him. "That asshat." They both sighed and watched the mask that was placed upon her face which helped her to breath. The fear was present, that she wouldn't wake up. It drifted throughout the air and coursed through the room.
"What's the point of waiting here beside her if we both know that she isn't waking up anytime soon?"
"So when she wakes up, we'll be sitting here beside her, comforting her through her confusion and pain."
Anders stormed out of the room. " I can't do this." He replied loudly.
"It hurts to much to see her lying there like this, it's like she's just a breathing corpse."
Nash turned back towards the door a while later, assuming that the knock was his brother. "Come in." A mailman entered into the room, dragging a large bag behind him. He dropped it softly beside Juniper's bed.
"These are for Ms. Juniper. Her fans sent her mail regarding their worry for her." The man tipped his hat and left, shutting the door quietly behind him. Nash opened the bag and sat in a chair next to her bed and got comfortable. He then, one by one, read the letters to her, listing them as "this is letter four" and so on. Through reading the letters he found out that Juniper had a very popular blog, uplifting young teens spirits.
As he listed off the last letter, a few hours or so later, he said loud and firm,
"Letter 101. From Kaitlynn Youhng."
And he read it to her, smiling at the young girls sloppy but meaningful letter.
