I could use many words to describe the new house. But if I had to choose one, it would be probably be 'perfect'.

The first room I walked into was the living room, and it was twice as big as the one in our old house. Couches lined the wall to the left, and a staircase wound up the wall I just walked through. Across from the couches was small fireplace, and resting on top of it was a flat screen tv.

There was a wide doorway on the other side of the living room, so I slowly made my way through our new house and walked through the doorway.

I found myself in the kitchen, and it was almost as big as the living room. Shelves and counters bordered the sides of the room, and a stove was positioned in the center of the wall to my left. A dishwasher lied on the opposite side of the stove, and I sink sat above it. In the center of the room there was a small island with a huge light hanging over it that was probably big enough to light up the whole room.

"Peyton!", my mom yelled from upstairs. "Do you want to come see your new room?"

Excitement filled within me as I ran out of the kitchen, dropping my backpack on a couch in the living room, and made my way towards the stairs. I took them two at a time, and when I reached the top I stood in the center of a wide hallway that branched off the the left and right of the staircase.

My moms head poked out of a doorway to the left. "Your room's at the end of the hallway", she said, pointing down the hallway to the right.

I ran as fast as I could to my room. When I got close to the closed door, I tried to come to a stop, but accidentally slammed into the doorway instead.

My mom voice echoed through the hallway. "Are you ok? What happened?", she asked.

"Nothing", I said, rubbing my forehead. "I was just getting a closer look at my room."

I lowered my hand from my head and rested it on the doorknob. I took several deep breaths, preparing myself for what lied behind the door. It could either be amazing, or terrible. I didn't think it could lie somewhere in the middle. After a few moments, I finally manned up and opened the door.

I brushed my hand against the wall, looking for the light switch. When I found it, I switched it on, and my mouth gaped open.

The room was perfect. And when I say perfect, I mean perfect. The first thing I noticed was that it was big. Not as big as the living room, but still bigger than my room at our old house. The walls and ceiling were painted a blue/gray, like the color of a storm cloud, and the floor was covered with white carpet. The room was almost empty accept for a desk that lied against the wall, but I already knew where all my stuff was gonna go.

I looked around for a window, hoping the room was the full package, and my eyes landed on a double glass door. And on the other side of the glass door was a balcony. The room had a freaking balcony.

My eyes lit up, and I ran over the doors. I slid them open and stepped out onto the balcony, my balcony, which was made of stone. I took a deep breath and looked at the view. I couldn't see much because it was still dark, but I heard the sound of moving water in the distance and smiled.

"Hey there, Mr. Moving Sucks", my moms voice said from behind me.

I turned around and saw my mom standing in the doorway. I tried to hide my smile, but I don't think I did a good job.

"I said I'd give it a chance, didn't I?", I asked, walking back into my room and sliding the glass doors shut behind me.

My mom laughed. "I guess you did. I know you probably aren't tired anymore, but you should probably try to go to sleep. You have school in..." She looked down at her watch and grimaced. "Two hours", she finished.

I moaned. "Two? The sun will rise in like, thirty minutes. What's the points of going to sleep?"

"A little sleep is better than none at all, in my opinion", my mom said, raising her eyebrow. "Besides, I don't want you to walk around school like a zombie on your first day. That would probably earn you zero friends".

I slumped over, defeated. "Fine, I'll try to close my eyes. Where should I sleep?"

My moms eyes went to the floor and then back up to me.

I sighed. "The floor. Of course. Hooray for us", I said with a slight smile.

"Don't worry, the movers be here in the morning, so we'll have beds tomorrow night", my mom said.

I gave her a thumbs up. "Sounds good", I said, sitting down in the center of the floor.

"Goodnight", she said, smiling. She switched off the light and walked out the room, shutting the door behind her.

"Goodnight", I said, laying down. I put my hands under my head and looked up at the ceiling.

After a few moments it was quiet, but then the rain started again, and the sound of water hitting glass filled the room.

I listened to the familiar sound and closed my eyes, letting it lead me to sleep just as it had the first time I entered Maine.

It felt good to know that something's never change, and some never will.
