Jung Hoseok

Angst

...

Something woke up inside of me. A little sweet voice whispering to me that I had to open my eyes. That I had to survive. I tried to fight the urge of staying lost on my deep slumber and my eyes shot wide open.

Immediately, a sharp pain right through my scalp made me groan and regretting even trying anything.

A loud, woman's voice disturbed the silence around me, and walked over, taking my hand tightly into hers.

The white walls, the intense lights, the serums deep digged in both of my hands. It took me a bit to realize that I was at the hospital. But why?

"She's awake! Call a doctor!"

Her voice was hammering nails into my head making me weaker. My eyes darted at her. She was giving me a feeling that made me feel safe and sound. It was my mother. Her puffed dark eyes met mine as a wide smile formed on her face.

"Darling, are you okay?! How are you feeling?"

"Sick." I managed to mouth, not really having the amount of energy to explain every single feeling surrounding me.

"The doctor will come soon, it will be okay baby"

There was a crack on her voice

"What happened?"

She just pushed some of my hair behind my ear, out of my face, and pulled a forced smile that was everything but convincing.

"You had an accident, baby. With the car, last night."

"W-what?"

She let a sigh and kept caressing my cheek. I tried hard to remember anything, but nothing would pop up.

"Where's Hoseok?"

Her eyes avoided mine, making me feel confused. I needed to see him, but where was he?

"You need to rest for now. We'll talk about it later."

"W-wait-" I suddenly felt a wave of dizziness making my voice cracking more. But that didn't sound right.

My eyes caught the figure of a man right next to my mother, holding some papers before I passed out again.

"Yah, are you ready or not?"

Hoseok's bright voice made me chuckle as I tried hard to pull the zip of my dress up, losing the grip of it once again.

"Ugh, stop messing around and help me!"

I pulled my hair in front, as I felt the zip up in no time, and Hoseok's chin against my shoulder, looking at me through the mirror.

My eyes met his, and his face immediately got brightened up.

"You look so pretty tonight."

"I don't the other days?" I replied teasingly and he just wrinkled his nose.

"You know what I mean!"

"Yeah, I'm just messing with you."

I turned around to face him and fixed the collar of his shirt around his neck. He stayed still, enjoying my touch.

"You look gorgeous as well." I said, and he just smiled at me brightly and put his hand into his pocket, revealing something shinning inside.

"Will you wear this?" I looked over at his hand, a simple, yet delicate silver necklace catching my eye. It was not too much, but it felt so special even at the first look.

He placed it around my neck, and looked at it in awe before meeting my eyes for a second.

"It looks perfect on you. Aish, my heart." He placed his hand over his chest dramatically and I couldn't help but smile at how adorable he was.

"Have one more!" My friend shouted so her voice could be heard over the loud music.

"I can't drink more, just no more-" she was clearly drunk, and I felt like I would be soon if I continued. But she insisted.

"One more~?" I sighed taking the shot from her hand and drunk it all at once, in order to make her shut up.

"Yeeeeeaaaah!" Her voice sounded so high for a second. She reached for another shot but then a pat on my shoulder saved me from drinking 10 more of them.

"Dance with me! I've been waiting the whole night." Hoseok pouted his lips softly, aware that I couldn't say no to that.

As soon as I grabbed his hand, he dragged me to a group of friends still keeping a slight more personal room for us.

He was such a happy personality and even though I felt tired, his energy was giving me energy as well.

After a while, he pulled me aside seeing that we both started to get dizzy.

"Are you tired?"

"A bit. I kinda want to go to bed now."

"Let's go home then. I'm tired too."

Usually, when we were on the car, Hoseok would blast music on the radio and we'd both sing our hearts out everytime. But now he just put some quiet, soft music to calm us down.

We were a bit too exhausted to be our normal selves. I leaned my head on the window, gazing outside, at the almost empty roads.

My head then turned to the other side, at Hoseok who was focused on the wheel. Something caught my eye behind him.

Two light beams coming fast towards us. Closer and closer but so fast that before I could even say anything, everything went black.

I woke up with a gasp, my lungs demanding for air. My mother was still next to my side, talking to the man who was apparently the doctor, until I caught their attention.

I felt my eyes watery as I recalled everything and slightly sat up, ignoring the pain threatening me once again.

"Where's Hoseok? Is he okay?!"

My mother was counting her words and the doctor volunteered to take her place.

"I'm sorry, but the patient didn't make it."

One sentence was enough to make the world around me collapse. Before realizing, I felt hot tears ran across my cheeks and I started crying, not caring about how pathetic I would look to the people around me.

This was just a nightmare, but when do I wake up? I kept asking myself the same question, expecting Hoseok to gently shake my shoulders and wake me up to ask me if I had a bad dream like he always did.

But he never did.
