Kumajiro actually does remember who Canada is. He's Canada's most beloved and loyal friend, of course he'd remember. The only reason he asks is because Canada has gone through so many names such as Kanata, Nouvelle France, The dominion of Canada, and finally Canada, that Kumajiro asks just to make sure he gets it right. He wouldn't want to make a mistake after all. He cares to much for that. But most importantly, he asks to help remind Canada who he is sometimes, because when the rest of the world forgets who you are, Someone has to remind you.
