"You want to check it out?" I said.
"Sure, why not."
I went up to the door leaving her behind. I gently pushed the door slightly open and peered inside. There was a window that was cracked across the room and nice baby blue carpet spread across the floor. It looked like the corners of the carpet were burnt. There was an old-fashioned looking crib in the far corner and a bed that looked queen-sized in the other.
I stepped in leaving Tori behind and took a look around. The door shut behind me and latched itself, which I found very confusing considering there no doorknob. I turned around to try to open the door but it wouldn't pull or push open. I backed up getting ready for a running headstart to burst through the door, but then I heard the faint sound of the door unhinging. I then took another look around the room to see if anything was with me. That's when I noticed the portrait of a lady wrapped in drapes watching me from the top of the doorway.
I sprinted to the door as fast as I could getting ready to grab Tori and run, but right as I burst through the door. Tori was gone.
