I woke up to a sound of a bang. I quickly scurried over to my door holding myself against it listening to the ruckus downstairs. "Well when are you gonna tell her Mike?!" It was Jamie.
Mike and Jamie must be fighting again. I rolled my eyes debating whether I should eavesdrop some more or not. I decided not to and groaned as I went to the bathroom to take a shower.
When I was done I changed into my fresh graphic tee and some ripped jeans, with my black basic shoes.
I headed back into my room to be greeted with a knock on my door. A furious knock. I opened my door cautiously peeking out to see Jamie with a scowl painted on her face.
"Rise and shine little brat. Where's our breakfast?" I plastered a fake smile on my face and tried really hard not to roll my eyes. "I'll make it right now," I said cursing myself inwardly as I walked out of the room ignoring Jamie's stares behind me.
As I made my way to the kitchen I thought about what I would make. I didn't want to take forever and it's not like they deserved it either, just a simple breakfast.
After I was done making breakfast, I headed outside to go for a walk not bothering to tell anyone where I was going. As usual, it's not like they care anyway.
As I walked I listened to my music playlist on my phone. Panic at the disco.
God I love that band.
Suddenly I felt myself stumbling backwards and my headphones fell off. I looked up to see hazel eyes looking back at my green ones. It was a boy that looked to be the same age with brown hair.
"Hey, uh, are you ok?" The boy asked reaching his hand out to me which I gratefully took. I nodded, "yeah sorry, I wasn't paying attention."
I reached down to pick up the headphones that I dropped before looking back at the boy and offering my hand to him. "I'm Nora. Nora Banamon," I stated as he took my hand giving it a firm shake. "And I'm Calvin. Calvin Dakdoa."
I smiled in which he returned. "So what brings you out here?" I shook my head, "I could ask you the same thing."
Calvin chuckled to himself, "Just taking a walk. What about you?"
"Same as you I suppose." Calvin nodded. "Well, I guess I will see you around." I nodded to him before he took off running in the opposite direction.
I smiled a little before turning back around to start heading home. Home. I couldn't help but wonder if I was destined for something greater.
I shook off those thoughts as I rushed home where I knew I was in for a beating. A beating for not telling them where I went. But as far as I was concerned, they didn't deserve to know where I went.
I went inside and closed the door gently behind me before trying to sneak to the stairs to get up to my room. A voice. That one voice stopped me in my tracks. Mikes voice.
Mike.
"Where have you been young lady?!" I turned to face him and was greeted with a fist to my face which caused me to stumble backwards.
I landed with a thud before looking up at Mike who had an angry scowl plastered on his face that made me shudder.
Mike leaned down to my level to be at eye contact with me before whispering into my ear, "where have you been Nora?" I held my breath to frightened to move.
Slap.
"Are you deaf Nora, answer me! I put my hand gently on my face which was starting to reding from the slap. "I was out for a walk."
Mike scoffed before getting up and pulling my black hair with him down the stairs. I hissed out in pain but he didn't care. Not one bit.
He tossed me into the basement before I had time to object. "Didn't you learn from last time, what would happen to you, if you left this house without telling us again." I slightly nodded as he continued on with what he was going to tell me. What I knew he was going to tell me.
"No dinner for the night and you are going to be sleeping here for the rest of the night, no food tomorrow either."
I felt a silent tear run down my bruised face. School. Monday. "Wait," mike turned to face me stopping along the way.
"What about school?" He scoffed and shook his head, "I guess you are just going to have to miss a few days now aren't you?" He chuckled to himself as he closed the door behind him with a bang locking it before I could say anything else.
I cried and cried and cried that night. Hungry. Cold. Alone. I reached for my razor that I often kept in here for times like this, times when I felt like this.
I clicked the razor on ignoring the awful noise it made. I glided the razor along my arm slowly, calming me. It definitely hurt but in some way it just...calmed you. I yelped out at the pain and removed the razor once I was finished.
I grabbed the paper towels that I also often kept down here and tore off some of the paper to gently press down on the cut that had my crimson blood oozing out of it.
Pain.
I put all of the stuff away and laid my body gently on the solid, hard, dirty floor and letting it all out.
I can't do it anymore.
I don't want to be here.
I don't want to live.
