"Surrender!" Thor roared, brandishing Mjölnir as he stepped over the shattered remains of the door. Calmly, Loki swept in with a serene smile flashing across his cruel features. Stark glanced up from his book. Banner froze in mid-rub of his neck, still raw from the rubbing chains. Rogers growled at the sight of Loki. Fury didn't even react. Icy eyes scanned the room, penetrating each corner for signs of attack.

Thor turned back his steely gaze to his once-allies. When nobody moved, Thor's brow furrowed in anger. "I said surrender! Or you will perish at the hands of two gods - a warrior and an intelligent god, who has plans only you can dream of!" Thor roared, spittle flying off his lips.

"Hey, hey, Thor! Calm yourself, buddy. Your 'intelligent' brother thingy-majig there is trying to kill us! Are you a madman or what? Now please snap out of it before I lauch my book at your forehead. Which I hope not to do because you might damage it with your hollow skull!" Stark retorted, earning some respective glances from his fellow avengers. Loki, however, was not affected.

"Hmph. Desperate words cannot move an Asgardian born. Like a soldier, my brother, trained to not bed moved by a barrage of insults," Loki hissed. "Especially from a silly little billionaire!" he added maliciously. Stark's pulse quickened as he recognized an invite to throw his book. As he threw it, a cold feeling gripped his heart. His skin paled as blood ceased flowing within his veins. Ice gripped his chest; it felt like thousands of shards piercing him like a voodoo doll … The arc reactor flickered weakly.

Barging past, Thor raised the hammer. A cruel blow cracked a zigzag over Barton's skull. Blood mingled with brains mingled with a ear-splitting scream as the hammer swooped towards Maria Hill, who was Thor's next chosen victim. Suddenly, Thor paused as a shield blocked Mjölnir. Rogers tensed, but was too late to block the next blow that came swinging from the Asgardian god's arms.

His knotty muscles tensing, Thor brought Mjölnir down as hard a he could upon Maria's head, which should have smashed like a egg. But Thor was frozen. An arrow was buried in his thigh up the the broke shaft. Barton slumped weakly, his head spinning. Thor advanced, pulling the arrow from his leg. Tossing the useless stick aside, he smirked. He raised Mjölnir high, revenge brightly sparking within his blue eyes. Unnaturally blue … Loki had possessed him! Realising Thor hadn't snapped and gone mental, Barton struggled up to his feet. Thor hesitated, staring his prey hard in the eyes. A blow struck off Thor's temple; the god staggered.

Eventually collapsing, Barton groaned as his knuckles broke. Thor rubbed his head, looking dazed and wholly unfocussed. Loki gave a look of pure, fiery hatred to the Avengers.

"I will return. One by one, you will turn against each other until you are all under my command! You won't be in my army, oh no. You can be tortured, endlessly. I bet the Chitauri will want to know who almost destroyed them," he hissed venomously. And with that, he vanished.
