He looked almost sad as he shredded the photograph up in his hands. Dropping the litter onto the floor, he beckoned to the Chitauri to release Natasha. She sat up, suspicion gleaming in her eyes.
"Yes, Natasha, you have a right to be suspicious of my sudden generosity. Let me see if you can piece up the puzzle," Loki remarked. Natasha had sat on a padded stool, and begun picking up the paper bits whenher stomach rumbled loudly. She blushed, and Loki laughed at the look of embarrassment upon her face.
"Let our guest sustain a little privacy, and also bring her something to eat and drink," he said. A few minutes later, Loki returned. He carried a large tray, which consisted of a silver plate and large matching goblet. She looked at the plate, which heralded roast chicken, roast potatoes, greens and gravy. The goblet held an unknown liquid. She gingerly tested a piece of chicken. Then, realising there was no poison, that this wasn't a trick, she ate ravenously. She absent-mindedly sipped from the goblet, and froze as the delicious liquid slipped down her throat. She quenched her thirst, and looked up at Loki. "It's like nectar!" she exclamed, nibbling a potato. Loki smiled mischievously.
"It's Asgardian wine. Nice, isn't it?" he answered simply. He resumed watching the forming puzzle.
She was halfway through the puzzle, but was stuck. She ate a few peas before spotting the next piece to slot in. When it was almost finished, Loki left the room. The image portrayed a young girl and her mother, both with shocking burgundy-red hair. Natasha gasped - and woke again. She was chained in a dark cell; Loki smiled grimly through the bars.
"Enjoy your little dream session?" he said. "While you were sleeping, I captured your little friends!" Natasha gasped. She knew he wasn't lying; she could hear Thor roaring to be released a few cells down. Loki rolled his eyes, and strode off down the passageway.
"Brother, let me out! Odin will hear of this! MY FATHER WILL FIND OUT ABOUT YOUR TREACHEROUS HEART!" Thor shouted, red in the face with rage. Loki tutted.
"Oh, brother, Odin will never hear of this? Do you want to know why?" Loki said, waving his hand. A mirage appeared, showing Odin's grave and all of Asgard weeping over it. "Odin is dead. When I return, I will rule!" Loki roared triumphantly.
