When I came round they had left. I felt a warm liquid on my chest and realised that blood was still dripping onto my shirt; at least it was black then. I slowly got up and stretched my bruised frame, wincing as my body flared in pain. I whimpered, then managed to make my way into the bathroom. I slowly washed the blood off my face and pressed some toilet paper to my lip until it stopped bleeding. I readjusted my make up and covered up the new bruises which were blooming beautifully over the old ones.
I crawled back to my bed and fell asleep to try and get rid of my jetlag. When I woke up they still weren't back and then it slowly dawned on me. I could leave if I wanted to. They wouldn't be able to stop me, I had a key. I turned to my bedside table to grab my key when I realised, they had taken it, the bastards. Then it hit me, the window. We were only a couple of stories up, and there was a wall flower frame on this side of the building. If I could open the window wide enough, I could climb down the frame and I would be free. I grabbed my rucksack which I thankfully hadn't unpacked from the night before and grabbed my wallet, there was at least £10 in there, which would get me some food and somewhere to stay for the night.
I wooped in excitement, I was actually going to run away. Why hadn't I thought of this sooner? I pulled on some black skinny jeans and a Twin Atlantic t-shirt. Twin Atlantic was one of my favorite bands, although I had never been allowed to go to a gig. I pushed open the window as far as it would go and slithered out of it, clinging tightly to the wall flower frame. I hissed in annoyance as the window latch caught my t-shirt, creating small rip in the back. I carefully climbed down and luckily no one saw me. I jumped the last few feet and stood up. The whole city was at my fingertips.
It was six o'clock and I hadn't yet eaten so I made my way into the centre of town. I found a Mcdonalds and ordered some chips and a bottle of water. I had never eaten at a fast food restaurant before and excitement coursed through my veins as I sat down. At some point, they would realise I was missing and might try to search for me, but by then I would have lost myself in this glorious city.
I realised that it was quite chilly and pulled a black hoodie out of my bag. It had the Green Day logo on the back and I pulled the hood down over my face.
'Excuse me sir, are you done with that?' someone asked me and I nodded. My rubbish was cleared away and I picked up the water bottle. It was still pretty full so I shoved it in my bag for later.
I stepped outside and it suddenly began tipping it down with rain. I shivered as I was quickly drenched. I ran for cover and once I was under shelter I looked around for a bed and breakfast or holiday inn of some description, but I couldn't see anything like that.
'Hey, hey excuse me' I called to a young couple near me who were just coming out of a shop.
'Yeah?' they asked, turning round.
'Do you know if there is anywhere I can stay for the night thats costs under £10?
'Sorry' the woman replied. There's only one hotel around here and that's really expensive.'
Damn, that must be the hotel that Howard and Elaine were staying at.
'Kay thanks' I replied, before turning away from the couple. Shit, what was I going to do? I thought for a minute then realised that I was going to have to rough it. I looked up and down for somewhere that might provide enough shelter to sleep in, then I saw a huge building that appeared to be a block of flats. I peered through the glass door to see a large reception area. At the desk was a sleeping lobbyist. It appeared to be empty and I formulated a plan. If I could sneak in whilst he was asleep then when he locked up for the night and went to bed, I would be able to sleep in the foyer without being discovered.
I gently pushed open the door and crept into the large foyer. I saw a large sofa and crept behind it, squashing myself against the wall. I pulled a large potplant in front of me. Brilliant. Now no one would be able to see me. After what seemed to be about an hour, the receptionist headed upstairs to what I guessed was his appartment. I pushed the sofa forwards slightly to give me more room and found the most comfortable position I could. After about half an hour, I dropped off to sleep.
