Fear and the rest are setting up a camp in the cave. Chaos and I are hunting for lunch in the forests.
"Bird!" I whisper scream and point at a bird resting on a branch. Chaos hurls a lightning bolt at it. It dies, slightly pre-roasted.
"I didn't ask you to cook it." I mumbled, picking up the poor thing's carcass.
"Sorry, how about you do the hunting and I do the carrying and spotting." Chaos rolls her eyes.
"Thank you!" I throw three burnt carcasses into her hands and I strike a little squirrel with an icicle on sight.
"I'm so excited to go back to base later." Chaos squeals quietly,
"Yeah, air conditioning, legit food, legit beds, legit baths." I sigh,
"Wonder what's next in training." She ponders.
"I hope we never have to leave the base." I sigh,
"Yeah, but John says we have to." She rolls her eyes,
"Ugh." I whine.
We continue hunting till we have enough food for everyone. We return to the cave where a fire is set up and everyone else is
talking about how we will move when we return.
"Once they announce that we must leave, we leave immediately, heading back to the trail of the trench, following it until we find the open gate." Dark says.
"Stay together, never leave each other's side." Tray says, "Or we might lose you."
"Don't you all look well fed." A low voice that belongs to Havoc says, he's standing on the cave entrance.
"Go away, Havoc." I groan,
"No, stay away from me you freak!" He points at me.
"This isn't a competition, Havoc, leave." Tray stands up,
"No, I want to know why the freak here has such power." He remains where he is.
"I can't control it. Leave and everything will be fine." I sob, covering my face with my hands.
"No. You tell me, no, us why you have such freakish powers." He says.
"Go away!" Tray says, summoning a fireball at his hand.
"Tsk tsk tsk. Where have your manners gone?" Havoc says, using his powers to put out his fire.
"Stop!" Des says,
"Havoc, you little- ah!" Fear says, but something grabs her neck.
"That's enough, deary," Lunacy cackles, "I'm in charge now."
The whole cave is covered in ice and frost. All the fires have been put out. Havoc drops Fear to gasp in pain on the floor.
"Freak, you just couldn't stay away, can't you." He says, gritting his teeth.
She points out her finger.
"Eenie meenie minie mo, who shall I kill first, I do not know, who should have the first death blow, eenie meenie minie-you." She lands on Inferno. Who panics.
"Stay away from me, you lunatic!" He screams.
"No, shh. It'll be over before you know it." She smirks,
She freezes him. He is nothing left but a shocked looking ice sculpture. The rest of them look horrified. I sit in the middle, terrified of myself.
"Now, who's next?" She ponders, "Ah, how about the brunette." She points at Fear who trembles.
"Insanity, that's enough." Tray warns,
"I can't stop!" I sob,
"Think positive!" He says while Fear is being cornered by a smug Lunacy.
"Okay, okay." I calm down and do as he says.
Lunacy goes back to normal, she passes out. I lean my head on a rock and sob in misery. Tray melts Havoc out in the forest so he could leave me alone. He returns hastily.
"Insanity, what-" Fear starts,
"No, I'll handle this. You've been through a lot today." Tray comforts,
"Thank you." I croak.
He explains the situation to Chaos and Fear. Night falls. We prepare for leaving.
"Can't wait!" Fear squeals,
"Me neither." Des smiles,
"ALL TRAINEES PLEASE RETURN TO BASE." An invisible speaker announces.
We all high five each other and do as we planned. We return to base where a smiling John is standing in the entrance.
"Congrats." He smiles to all of us.
"Thank you." I smile happily.
"This'll be great for tomorrow." He says,
All smiles fade and turn into confused looks.
"Why?" Fear asks,
"You are going to the outside tomorrow."
