It is said that a thousand years ago the world of Man and Elves along with other beings once lived in harmony. That ended when a new king stepped onto the throne after his father died of sickness.
Every crown made in his honor was demanded to be embellished in jewels and must be forged from pure gold. King Stefan was hellbent on taking over all the lands. But his secretive plan in doing so was easily seen by the wisest she-elf of the Grove and perhaps the most ancient. Her name was known to all.
Celaena Qina.
The town folk described her hair to be a silver waterfall curling over her shoulders and down the small of her back. Her skin pale but looked to be smooth as silk, and not even one dark blemish in sight. It was her eyes that entranced all who dared to look into them.
They were the darkest shade of blue imaginable. It was as though a storm raged within them. Her eyes revealed the depth of her wisdom; they looked old.
To prove her suspicion she attended King Stefan's wedding. As a gift to the now queen she presented her with a prized necklace of the Grove. Hanging from a silver chain was a blue sapphire. It sat surrounded by diamonds that seemed to bring a greedy look in the King's eyes.
That was all the proof Calaena needed for the gem was enchanted and would bring out the truth of anyone who laid their eyes on it.
But it wasn't to long when King Stefan raged war on the Grove. For the necklace no longer adorned the Queen's neck. The anger that was buried deep inside him showed. Every bone in his body convinced that the charlatan was Calaena.
Calaena did the only thing that she believed would protect her people. She called upon the Mage of the Grove, and requested a barrier be created. A Wall Of Thorns to be specific, the wall was so gigantic that the thorns were the size of a man's head; laced with poison deadly to all that lived.
To this day the peace they once had has been forgotten. And for the necklace, it is still missing.
