Everleaf High

New Student

It was the first day of senior year for Bella. She had just moved to Everleaf from South Carolina. She had a small southern accent, too.

She put her dark brown hair up in a ponytail, put on an off-white sweater with a heart in the middle, and threw on some jeans and uggs.

She knew very well that she was going to be one of the only humans at school, but she didn't mind. All she hoped was to at least make friends.

Bella said goodbye to her parents and headed to school. The school was a block away from her house, so she walked.

Everleaf High looked like a castle. It was black and had many tall towers. It also had a large wall around the school, blocking it from the rest of the world. The black gate was open and Bella walked through, entering the school grounds.

Walking through the courtyard sent chills down Bella's spine. There was no human in sight. There were fangs and tails and large ears and wings everywhere. She sort of felt intimidated by all the monsters.

She felt many sets of eyes on her. It was like the students never seen a human before, let alone one walking in the courtyard. Bella quickened her pace and went inside.

As she walked in, she bumped into someone and spilled their coffee all over them. She looked and saw it was a vampire.

"Fuck!" She yelled. Her name was Mercy Dawn. She was bitten by a vampire when she was younger and became one of their kind. The bite was on the left side of her neck.

Mercy had bleach blonde hair and red eyes. She wore a dark red t-shirt, a black jacket, high-waisted shorts, and leather boots. She also wore dark red lipstick. She looked pissed.

"Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry!" Bella said.

"It's whatever. It's not like coffee stains or anything..." She said grumpily.

"Hahaha nice job, Mercy!" A male voice was heard.

"Fuck off, Morrow!" She yelled. Morrow Howard was a werewolf. He had blonde hair and bluish purple eyes. He wore a white hoodie with thin blue stripes, jeans, and sneakers. His wolf ears and tail were showing. His claws were in his pockets. Mercy and Morrow dated junior year and broke up over the summer.

"Who's that?" Bella asked.

"That's Morrow. He's a dick sometimes. You're the new girl, right?" Mercy said.

"Um yeah, haha, I came here from South Carolina." She smiled. Mercy looked at her more closely.

"You're human?" She asked. Bella nodded.

"Good luck with that. Most humans that come here become a monster at some point." Mercy warned.

"I kind of want to stay human, thank you." Bella said.

"Oh, no. They do it whether you want it or not." She said, seriously. There was silence.

"By the way," Mercy broke the silence, "I'm Mercy. Mercy Dawn."

"I'm Isabella Clark. But you can call me Bella!" She smiled. The girls shook hands.

"Meet me at my table at luncheon. You can sit with me and my loser friends." Mercy offered.

"Oh alright. Thank you so much!" Then the bell rang and Mercy left. Now Bella was alone until lunch.
