Back at Bella's, the girls sat on the curb and chatted for a bit. Lucine explained Mercy's drinking problem and how shes been pretty depressed for a while.

"Do you know why she's depressed?" Bella asked Lucine, concerningly.

"Yeah. It's honestly a bunch of things, but it got worse like a month ago when Gale got suspended." Lucine explained.

"Gale?" Bella questioned.

"Gale Dacey. He's a vampire. He got suspended for false accusations. I'm not quite sure about the full story, so that's all I know. But Mercy and Gale were really good friends. Mercy hasn't heard from him since his suspension, so she's really worried." Lucine looked down. There was a long silence.

"Gale comes back Monday..." Corentine said. Everyone looked at her.

"What? That's what Zephyr told me." She explained.

"That's great then! So now Mercy will be less depressed!" Bella exclaimed. She stood up, excited.

"No, it's not great." Zaphara said.

"Why not? Mercy will be happier. Isn't that a good thing?" Bella crossed her arms.

"It is, trust me, that's all we would want. But Gale and Mercy are a force to be reckoned with.." Corentine said.

"Bella, them together will create chaos. Mercy will go back to her old, destructive ways. Whenever they're together, they break things, they hurt people, they don't do good things. Maybe Mercy has matured since those times, but Gale probably hasn't. And all Mercy's progress will be lost. That's what we're scared of." Lucine added.

"I think you guys should trust Mercy a little bit more. Sure, she has anger issues and obviously abuses alcohol. But one boy can't change her in a day. She's 18 years old. She's an adult, not a baby. She'll learn from her mistakes. Have a little faith in her, please." Bella begged.

Mercy was the first person who became friends with her. She respected Mercy and felt as though Mercy can do fine on her own.

"She's right. Mercy is so smart and can take care of herself. Maybe this time it'll be different." Zaphara replied. Lucine nodded in agreement.

"But, what about Zephyr. He'll be heartbroken!" Corentine said.

"I thought you didn't like him?" Bella said. Corentine gave her a look.

"I don't. He'll just be up my ass about it and that's so annoying." Everyone rolled their eyes and laughed.

Everyone agreed to give Mercy a chance. As a few minutes passed, Corentine, Zaphara, and Lucine got up and had to leave. They asked Bella if she wanted to join them, but she declined.

Bella went back inside and walked upstairs into her room. She opened up her journal and decided to write in it.

Friday, November 10th

Mercy, Lucine, Corentine, and Zaphara showed up. They were all pretty tipsy, but Mercy was beyond drunk. I learned that she has depression and drinks her sadness away. A part of her sadness comes from Zephyr. I think he's playing her, to be completely honest.

The other part comes from this vampire named Gale. The girls seem to resent Gale, for the way he makes Mercy act. But she's been so sad and lonely without him. I truly think they should give both parties a chance. They're adults and can make decisions on their own.

Plus, I dont think Mercy will instantly become immature and reckless once again. A switch isnt being flipped. But, then again, I dont know Mercy too well and I dont know Gale at all. But I'm sure everything will be fine. Anyways, I'm going to head to bed to think about this subject. Goodnight xoxo
