PARIS!
I want to scream from excitement, but I feel like doing that in an airport would get you arrested. Or at least put you in one of those questioning rooms for hours and I did not want to waste of second of my time in PARIS!
I was the first person from my plane to be waiting for my luggage and when my suitcase finally rolled around, I was off.
I knew enough french to get by (thank you crappy public school), so I hailed a cab and told the driver the address of my hotel.
As we drove down the streets of Paris, my eyes got wider and wider in adoration for this beautiful city. Every corner, every sidewalk, just everything seemed more elegant than any other city I had been in. I noticed the River Seine on my right side, glistening in its magnificence. At one point, I even thought I saw the Eiffel Tower.
We pulled up to the hotel about 25 minutes later and I didn't even wait for the cabby to pull out my luggage. I threw him the cash, popped the trunk, and was gone in the blink of an eye. I had Paris waiting for me and Paris waits for no one.
Checking in was where I got slowed down because their was a small que of people waiting for their rooms, and as far as I could tell, only one slow, frenchman working the desk.
But eventually it was my turn and I was in my room soon after but I didn't stay for long, just long enough to take a quick glance around and throw my stuff on the bed.
I didn't even bother changing out of my gross plane clothes, because as I said before: Paris waits for no one!
I decided to start with the Eiffel Tower, then go to the lock bridge, followed by a walk along the Seine, where I would hopefully find a cute cafe for dinner. I couldn't wait.
Luckily, the same cab from before had hung around, so I just hopped right back in and practically sang "Tour d'Eiffel, s'il vous plait."

There were a lot of stairs. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT of stairs. Apparently, I was in even worse shape than I thought because I was wheezing before I was even half way up.
When I reached the top, I practically collapsed. If it weren't for a nearby railing to give me support, there would have been nothing between me and the floor.
After I managed to catch my breath, I finally looked around. It was breathtaking. The whole city of Paris was laid out before my eyes and it made me feel so powerful, like the whole world was at my feet. I was in a dream and there was no one around to pinch me, which was good because there was no way I wanted to wake up from this dream.
There were about 15 other people on the top viewing deck with me, but for all I was aware, it was just me and Paris (saying 'Paris' in a french accent and it rhymes, woohoo!). Everytime I looked down, I saw something new. A food stand in one of the streets, trees and bushes lining every sidewalk, and small, european cars, beeping and weaving their way through the streets.
Paris was everything.
"Excuse me, I'm sorry to bother you, but do you speak english by chance?" I heard a female voice say from behind me. When I turned, I saw a girl around my height with beautiful, long golden hair and a slender yet curvy frame. Her eyes were a warm hazel that instantly told me she was a kind soul.
"Yes..." I replied, unsure of what she wanted or how she knew I spoke english.
"Oh thank god! I swear everyone else up here is European. I lost my wallet and I was wondering if you've seen it? Its a small brown leather one with a gold buckle on the front. I seem to have misplaced it and its kind of important," she said, trying to make light of the situation but a I could tell she was having a major freakout on the inside. That instantly made me feel for her.
"No, sorry, I haven't seen it, but I can help you look," I replied, trying to come across as sympathetic so she would know I understood why she was worried.
She smiled, "Oh my gosh! Thank you! I've looked everywhere up here but it could be on one of the lower decks, if you don't mind coming with me?"
"Sure, thats fine," I replied.
"Great! I'm Darcy by the way," she said, sticking out her hand.
Shaking her hand, I said, "It's nice to meet you, Darcy. I'm Eden."
With that short introduction, she turned and headed down the stairs, me following closely behind her, in search of the lost wallet.
