I carried Lena down the hall uneasily to the nurse's office. Every so often, I glanced at other students in the hall, who were either returning to class from the bathroom or getting water. Each one he passed gave off a weird look, and most times, a menacing one at that.
A few minutes go by; I'm outside the nurse's office, waiting for Lena. I decide to listen in on the ladies' conversation by pressing my ear against the wall.
"You're lucky nothing severe happened when you fell, Miss Santez," The nurse said.
I peek slightly through the window, and spy Lena rubbing her head shyly. She smiles weakly, then goes on to say, "Thanks, I suppose I was just a little sick or something..."
The nurse picks up her clipboard, her claws tapping gently against the wood. If one was tasked with describing the nurse in fewest words possible, a simple answer would be that she looked similar to the character Alphys from Undertale, only taller and with few facial features resembling a human's. She scribbles down some words on her paper and peeks up at Lena. "What happened to you earlier? The boy outside said something about you collapsing. While I'd like to believe him, I need confirmation from you."
"Yes, I did faint... Right into his arms. Oh gosh, that's really embarrassing."  She moves her legs off of the hard bed and winces as she puts weight on her ankle.
"What else did you do?" The nurse asks sweetly.
"I tripped during class, that's what was bringing me here in the first place... Before-... you know."
"I see." She writes down a few more things before grabbing two small pieces of pink paper, writing the date and time. She sets those things aside before grabbing an ice pack and some of that cheap paper towels from the counter and handing them to Lena. "What's the boy's name again?"
"Uh- It's uh... Mason!  Mason Slater, I think."
She remembered? Odd...
"Sounds like he's new," she says in monotone. The nurse grabs hold of her clipboard and jots down my name on a hall pass. She hands the two slips to Lena, one for her and one for me. "You two get to class, alright? And, be careful with the other monsters. They're not as friendly towards your kind... Although, you might already know that."
That's right. She's human, and they think I'm human. No wonder...
Coughing uncomfortably, Lena looks away from the nurse and says, "Yes, I understand.  I also h-hope you understand that it's bullying and racism, and the school prohibits- uh... yeah, prohibits that kind of thing, ma'am."
"That is correct. I'm honestly ashamed of how wild our principal lets our students roam," the nurse said with a sigh.
"I'm sorry, thanks for understanding.  Er... My ankle actually really hurts, could I stay here for a few more minutes?"
"Of course. I'll just send the boy out, you stay as long as you need sweetheart." The nurse smiles, bearing her jagged teeth. She takes back one of the slips and heads towards the door. I lean back in my seat as she says, "Tell the teacher she'll be staying a while." I quietly walk down the hall, leaving Lena behind to rest.

The school day whizzed by. Most classes mainly focused on introductions. Mason got a good amount of paper balls thrown at his head and insults directed towards him muttered as he walked down the halls during passing time. Later in the day, when the last bell had ended, he met up with Cameron- the same boy who he met over the internet and whom he sat with during English.

"Hey, Cam? Can we stop by your cousin's work and get something to eat? I'm starving," Abigale, Cameron's girlfriend, complained quietly as she rested her head on his shoulder.
Cam leaned his head onto Abigale's, as a gesture of "romance" or whatever, and said, "Nate's?  I guess, McDonald's isn't exactly gourmet food for my wonderful girlfriend, but yeah.  Mason, how 'bout you?"
Abigale giggles before responding. "Thank you~~"
"I guess I could go for something," I reply.
"Very expressive, I feel incredibly moved.  McDonald's is truly the only way to go.  Praise Ronald.  Praise our savior, Ronnie McDonni-"
"Cam, shut up," said I.
"I just wanna say that this is cyberbullying.  This is my own friend bullying me.  Mason, you've wounded me."  Cam holds his hand out to Abigale and grabs it.  "Shall we leave this horrific bully behind, m'lady?"
"Why, of course! I shall lead the way~" Abigale said sweetly, taking her boyfriend's hand and tugging him towards the parking lot.
I sneered at the two, who were now looking deep into each other's eyes. "Wow, rude," I muttered.
Cam rolls his eyes, and stuck his hand out to me.  "M'lady?", he says sarcastically.
I smirk. How did I not expect this? From tumblr user unstoppable-teddybear? I take Cam's hand and let myself be pulled away.
"Now, what can I get you two beautiful ladies at the finest restaurant in Old-" He pauses after wrapping his arms around us. Cam spots a familiar silhouette in the distance. "Oh, dang, is that the girl you carried to the nurse's office?  Is she good?  Didn't she, like, collapse?" He said, turning to me.
"Wha-" I whisk my head around and spot Lena. "What do you mean 'is she good?'" I ask, somewhat shocked and confused.
Abigale looks back too. "Oh, that's one of my friends!" She exclaims, before shouting from the top of her lungs, "LENA!! GET OVER HERE!" I wince, and so does Cam.
Loud much?
"I'm assuming that means she's good, right?" Cam asks.
"Of course! We've been friends for a long time!"
Lena looks up to see myself, Cam, and Abigale waving.  She looks behind her, as if to see if it's someone else, but when Abigale calls "Lena!  C'mon!", she jogs over to our group and smiles shyly.  "Hi, Abi, hi Cam!  Um... H-Hi Mason.  I'm super sorry about this morning...  I feel awful about making you carry me to the nurse's office."
"It's... fine," I reply quietly.
"We're heading to McDonalds to grab a bite, wanna come with?" Abigale asks.
"I- Mc-McDonald's?  Abi, he might be there."
"Ah, I'm sure it'll be fine. We won't be there for long! You can always hang outside while we order!"
"Mmm... Okay, let's go."
