Chapter Four - What I Didn't Know About My Bestfriend's
I stretched my legs out in front of me, letting my bare skin soak up the hot sun.
"I am so glad that school's out in a week." Jess sat down next to me, Alice sitting on my other side. "I can finally catch up on some sleep and watch all my movies." Jess loved her movies and tried as much as possible to get the three of us to become addicted to them like she was.
"And I can catch up on some reading." Jess chuckled at my statement but I could only roll my eyes at her. I was a bookworm and I was not ashamed to be one.
"I want your skin Valerie." Cassey stuck out her bottom lip as she sat down on the step below us, her long legs curled beneath her. I admired my golden skin with a smile. "Can I borrow it for the party on Friday?" She twisted a piece of short gold hair around her finger, her blue eyes looking at me.
I let out a laugh and crossed my legs at the ankles, straightening out my denim skirt. "I'm coming to the party as well so no, you cannot borrow it." I gave her a look and then watched in amusement as Jess turned to glare at me. I had been planning this moment for a long time.
"I thought we were doing a movie marathon. You promised me last week that you would come." She shook her head and stabbed a finger in my chest.
"I know I did but can't you come with us to the party? It's the first one of this summer and you never come to parties." I begged her. "It'll be fun, I promise." I tugged on her arm, my eyes pleading. "You can come over to my house on Sunday and I'll watch whatever you want. Just come to the party with us." By now Alice and Cassey were on their knee's too, all of us pleading Jess to attend the party.
"Me and parties don't go together very well." Jess shifted uncomfortably and we all kept quiet, silently urging her to go on. "I can't believe I'm going to tell you guys this." She mumbled under her breath, her cheeks flaring up to a bright red.
"So last year I went to a party." She gave Cassey a look. "I will provide no details of that party but I had my first kiss there." We all let out a squeal. Jess was the only one who hadn't kissed or dated anyone and we had made it our mission to get her to do that. She did it alright, just without telling us. We overlooked that minor detail and leaned forward, all of us eager to hear her story.
"It wasn't spectacular or anything." She waved off but pressed on.
"Who was it? What was the guy's name?" Alice demanded, pushing her glasses up as they slipped down her nose in her rush of excitement.
"Well I was really drunk guys..." She trailed off, twisting her hands around in her lap.
"Just tell us!" I pushed her knee lightly. Jess sucked in a ragged breath, her cheeks filling up with air. "Just spill it already!" I cried out and threw my hands in the air.
"It was someone called Andy and..." She seemed to cringe and we all shot her looks that said 'tell us the whole story.' "And, umm, well..." Jess was really struggling here.
"Was it a chick?" Cassey inspected her perfectly manicured nails and then looked up at us with an innocent look. "Was your first kiss a girl?" She elaborated and we all turned to look at Jess' horrified face. Her skin had paled and she licked her dry lips, her eyes suddenly looking very hollow in their sockets.
"How did you know?" She whispered. Alice shrieked and fell off the steps, all her books fluttering open as they surround her. Her jean clad legs were shaking as she hastily pushed up the sleeves of her blue blouse. We all watched in compelete amusement as Alice's face went beet red as a Jock bent down and helped gather up all her books.
