As soon as the car stopped my eyes widened. We were at a really, really fancy-looking restaurant and I scavenged my brain and tried to remember the last time I was even on a date. Even though it's Nathan I couldn't help but worry everything would go awkwardly, what if I-
"Sienna? Are you okay? We can always bail if you want." Nathan said and I quickly shook my head.
"No way. It's perfect. Thanks Nathan." I shot him a smile and tried to smother my thoughts. It was me and Nathan, things won't get awkward.
I hope.
I stepped out of the car my purse in hand and I instinctively reached for my phone. I couldn't help but want to check on the twins already but I placed my phone away. Tyler and Nina are fine, Chris and Beth are watching over them.
God why am I overthinking everything?
Nathan shot me a reassuring smile and I couldn't help but melt. I am on a date with Nathan Anderson. He's all mine. I don't have to worry about a single thing.
We walked up to the restaurant our hands interlocked and as soon as we stepped inside they were already directing us to a table. The place was utterly beautiful and I was speechless as I looked around. There was lanterns hanging from the dark ceiling and my heals clicked against the oak floor as we walked. We got a nice table by a large window, revealing the bright city. The place was bustling and waiters were everywhere you turned. There was also a bar a few feet from us and I couldn't help but wonder if we'd end up there at the end of the night.
"My mom took us to this place when we were kids." Nathan said looking around. He almost looked saddened and I knew how much it bothered him to talk about his mom. I think it was just because he never meant to, it just popped out and then everything he tried to forget came rushing back. I knew it had been hard since he quit. But not in the job department. Nathan got hired by one of his friends companies. He only got the call this morning and he didn't look that excited. I think for him, it was like starting from the bottom again.
"Wow. It must be open decades." I joked trying to lighten the mood. It worked as Nathan scowled playfully at me.
"I'm not that old!" He defended and I laughed.
"Okay old man."
The rest of the date went by smoothly and I couldn't even comprehend how I thought it would be awkward. Our conversation topics never ran out and I couldn't help but think it was only me and Nathan in the restaurant.
Nobody else.
"So, what did you want to be when you were younger?" Nathan asked, just as we ordered desert.
"Well, I definitely knew I wanted to be a mom but job wise, I had no clue. I wanted-"
My phone rang loudly and I stopped. "Sorry Nate. It's Chris give me a minute." I smiled but an odd look suddenly graced Nathan's features. "Why is Chris calling you?" He questioned worriedly just as I pressed accept.
"Chris?" I questioned but the phone was hung up instantly.
What the hell?
I instantly dialled his number again but got no answer. "Somethings wrong." I murmured shutting my eyes tightly. "What's going on? What did he say?" Nathan questioned and I shook my head. "Nathan the phone hung up. He's not answering now." I said trying to calm myself down. Nathan grabbed my hand from across the table and he sighed. "Sienna. He could've just accidentally called you. Or his phone just died. Do you want to go home and check on them?" Nathan questioned and suddenly I sighed. "Sorry. I'm overreacting."
"Don't apologise. Call Beth. Check if she answers." I did just that and the phone rang four times before it was answered by a terrified older brother and a quick-breathing Bethany.
"THE BABIES COMING! WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO?" Chris' shout was so loud I wouldn't have been shocked if Nathan had heard it. I almost wanted to laugh at his panicked voice but I didn't. "Woah. Calm down. Did her water break?" I questioned and muffled voices were heard on the other line. "Yes. Sienna it's all over your white carpet. Beth says she's reallly sorry and I can pay for it, if you want-"
"Chris."
"WHAT!? I'm sorry about your carpet okay? She can't help THAT SHE IS GIVING BIRTH RIGHT NOW-"
"Chris!"
"WHAT DO YOU WANT NOW! SIENNA, my god damn girlfriend is giving both and all you care about is the carpet! You-
"CHRIS!"
"Stop rambling about the carpet and pull yourself together! Do you think I care about the stupid carpet!? How is Beth you fool!" I questioned trying to knock some sense into the blubbering mess on the other side of the phone.
"HOW CAN I BE CALM! AND YOU YELLING NAMES AT ME IS NOT HELPING! I am no fool. Beth tell Sienna I'm not a fool-"
"Christopher Cortés! Give the phone to Beth right now." I practically growled and Nathan smirked. I just rolled my eyes at him, knowing that if he was around when the twins were being born, he probably would've freaked out even more.
"Hey Sienna? Can you get here right now. Chris freaking out really isn't helping my situation at the moment." Beth's voice rang through the phone and I nodded at Nathan as he pulled out the keys.
"We're on our way. How far apart are your contractions? If your water just broke your contractions should-"
"About five minutes." Beth's voice interrupted and my eyes widened.
"Five minutes?" I questioned starting to freak out myself. The baby was coming faster than I thought and the baby being born on the carpet was suddenly turning into a real scenario.
"Sienna what should I do? The hospitals too far away to drive and if I get into a car I will most likely give birth before we get there" Beth explained and I glanced at Nathan who was paying for the check. I would've offered to pay half in any other circumstance but right now we had no time to waste. "Beth listen to me carefully. I need you to get Chris to get some towels. There's tons in the spare bedroom. You'll also need a bowl of hot water and tell Chris to also call an ambulance. Just in case. Also tell him to find some sort of plastic bag." I said and I heard Beth repeated the instructions to Chris.
"Sienna? Why do I need a plastic bag?" Beth questioned as me and Nathan got into the car.
"Your boyfriend needs something to hyperventilate into, we don't want him to pass out."
Who's excited! A new Cortés baby.. What are you bets? A baby boy or girl?
