Dean knows that Sammy, and everyone else who helped in the search, thinks that he has long gone given up on finding Castiel, but he didn't give, just couldn't give up, he was special for Dean, not because he has countless times bleed for them, but mostly him, but also because he has to admit he liked him more than he showed, not that he would admit it to Sammy, because that would show weakness and he had to be strong for his little brother.

He has spend, to him it seemed, countless sleepless nights searching, his mind never wandering, even if it did it would always be either about Castiel or the words that he said and how he, if he weren't such an idjit, be holding him in his arms, pestering him with soft kisses whenever he could and wanted, hold his hand, now knowing that he felt the same way, without a care in the world, maybe even have, or go to, a few dates.

But Sam didn't know what the hunter had told the angel-er fallen angel now. The young brother had no idea what Castiel had confessed, had no clue that he had told Dean exactly why he had fallen and why he had shown up at the bunker in the middle of the night in December. Only Dean knew, and he would not rest until he found him, he swore that his last words to his best friend would not be the ones he had spoken that night, they couldn't be, they just couldn't, or the guilt would be just too strong and he wouldn't bare to lose another person that he loved.
