When Edward left Bella she didn't fall into a deep depression. She eventually graduated and moved to New York to work for Tony Stark aka Iron Man. In New York she meets new friends but also a certain vampire clan returns.

"Pepper why I thought we were friends, did I think wrong?" I asked her
"We were never friends, I just had to deal with you" She said
"What do you mean you just had to deal with me?" I asked
"I never liked you, ever since you got here you act like you own everything" She said
"She's never acted like she owns everything, even though she will own everything soon" Ironman said
"What do you mean she will own everything soon" She asked him
He then motioned for her to look at my left hand and that's exactly what she did. I could see the anger in her eyes intensify when she saw my engagement ring. I'm guessing she now understood what he meant when he said I would soon be owning everything.

"You're not helping" I said
"You're marrying her?!?!?!" she screeched
"Out of everyone you chose her" She said
"Yes I chose her because I love her" He said
"Are you sure that you could love a thief" She said smugly
"Bella is not a thief" Ironman stated
"Yes she is" Pepper insisted
"Oh really, then what did she steal that makes her a thief that has you proclaiming her to be one" He asked her
"She stole you, she stole you from me" She said
"How can she steal me from you when I was never yours" He said
"Don't you remember, that day when you declared your love for me?" She asked
"Oh actually, No I don't remember because it never happened" He stated
"Yes it did and I have a video to prove that it did happen" She said
She then pulled out her phone and proceeded to show us the so called video of Tony declaring his love for her. In the video there was her and.....Tony, a cardboard Tony to be more specific, this is getting weird. As if things couldn't get weirder she then proceeded to talk in a deep voice trying to imitate Tony's voice. After a while the video ended and she looked at us with a satisfied look on her face.
"That doesn't prove anything that just proves that you're crazy" Ironman said
"I'm not crazy!!! I'm perfectly fine my love, what makes you think that I'm crazy I'm just showing everyone how you declared your love for me" she said
"Your crazy Pepper I've never loved you and I never will" he said
"Why do you keep denying it love, just admit your love for me and this can all be over" Pepper said
While she was talking with Ironman this whole time no noticed Thor setting me free from the enchanted ropes and gently lowered me back to the floor.
"The only thing that's over is this conversation and your freedom" Ironman said
After he said that Black Widow handcuffed her to the table so she couldn't escape while the others went after Loki. Once I saw them go after Loki I walked over to the tour group.
"Follow me quickly" I said to them
I led them to my office and once I was sure everyone was there I put my office under lockdown mode. I then heard the locking of my door and windows and then steel covers dropping down over them.
