Next few months were hectic for the trio especially Anah and Reyhan. All three were new to this and the baby was giving them a tough time. Rehaina or Rey as they call her lovingly behaved like a naughty kid, she kept pooping and peeing at the wrong time, kept crying only to be held by her parents especially her father, Reyhan and then flashing a smile. She kept falling every time they tried to make her sit. Anah and Reyhan were both sleep deprived because of Rey's untimely cries. One day they had sat and prepared a chart as to who will attend the baby at night. After a lot of arguments and disagreements they decided alternate nights.
But in all this they found happiness. For Anah and Reyhan this was blissful and they couldn't be happier. Because of the baby, Anah and Reyhan had begun coming closer. The light moments where they accidentally bumped into each other and would continue to stare into each other eyes lovingly until they are interrupted by naughty Rey. The brushing of fingers, the fluttering of the heartbeat, the goosebumps. These feelings with Reyhan were new to Anah. And she loved it.
Ipshita made sure she clicked pictures of all their first even the first time Rey had pooped, also the first time both her parents changed diapers. Later they would look at the photos and laugh.
The cab halted in front of the office, Anah stepped down first. She carried her nine-month-old daughter, Rey. Anah had joined office couple of months back but this the first time she is bringing her baby to work. She will leave her in the daycare here, many young mothers have their kids here. A few weeks back, Anah had enquired about the Daycare and after confirming everything is cool she registered her daughter there.
All the employees greeted them like they are some celebrity. Especially, the women were excited on seeing the baby. Rey clung to her mother looking slightly worried seeing new people.
Anah looked at her daughter proudly as everyone shook hands with her, kissed her, touched her cheeks.
Ejaz had just come into the office and heard commotions, as he walked through the cubicles he saw Anah and their baby. Ejaz smiled looking at the chubby and fair baby in Anah's arms. She looked adorable dressed in white and red polka-dotted dress. He had instant tears. Ejaz noticed the baby's beautiful curls, a small side clip tugged the side of her hair. Every time Ejaz looked at the hair, he felt guiltier.
As Anah turned she saw Ejaz standing there, everyone quietened on seeing him. Ejaz quickly composed himself and looked at every one sternly. Everyone then got to work. Anah simply walked towards her cabin, as she passed Ejaz he cleared his throat and she stopped.
Ejaz looked at her and then at the baby.
Slowly he extended his hand, Rey blinked him briefly before looking at his hand. She smiled grabbing his index finger. Ejaz had tears in his eyes as he looked at her tiny fingers wrapped around his finger, he looked at her and she flashed him a toothy smile. She hardly had teeth but she looked very adorable.
'May I?' Ejaz asked Anah. She nodded and carefully handed Rey to him. Surprisingly the baby girl didn't care. Perhaps, it is the father-daughter connection. Blood is blood after all.
Ejaz smiled and caressed the baby's cheek with his free palm, - 'How are you, my baby?' he asked looking at it lovingly. The baby nodded, her gaze fixed on him.
'Excuse me,' - Anah interrupted him angrily, - 'she is not your baby.' She said sternly. Ejaz looked at her confusedly.
Anah took Rey from him, the toddler didn't want to let go of Ejaz and so she began to cry but Anah ignored her, - 'she is my and Reyhan's daughter.' She said angrily. Ejaz opened his mouth to speak to her but Anah simply glared at him and walked away. Ejaz felt his heart drop to his stomach as he watched her go. He has lost her and his baby for forever.
