Hunger... pain...  Hunger and Pain is all you felt.

You were starving so badly. It had been so long since you had a bite to eat that it was becoming a chore to do anything. You felt weak and instantly you hated the feeling. Above all, you hated your stubbornness...

If only you had stopped at the town... searched it thoroughly and carefully, then maybe you'd feel less weak... less pain... less... STARVED...

Taking in a deep, shallow breath, you forced your hands under you and pushed with all your might, slowly but surely rising off the ground. You had managed to get on your knees and took several deep breaths. You wanted to cry though... your breaths sounded like a zombies groan, or something similar to it from the lack of water and the high temperatures. After a day or so, your throat was completely parched and so much as swallowing would hurt...

Nothing seemed to work... you couldn't find water anywhere... it hadn't rained in a long time... and the worst: you were lost and barely had any energy.

You had lost your path when you ran from the undead, not paying attention to your surroundings and therefor... you lost your way. However, on a good note, you lost the hoard, so that's not all that bad.

The only problem now was your appearence. The last time you looked at yourself carefully, you were healthy, sane and hydrated, but now? Looking down you felt a sense of horror fall on your head.

Your arms were scratched up and covered with both old and fresh blood. You noticed that some of the discoloured blood from slaying zombies had also stayed on you, causing some wounds to get infected and hard to look at. Some of the precious red life element stayed on the floor when you got up, falling off your arms and pooling on the dry leaves. You felt and looked terribly skinny, almost wanting to have it all end right there when you saw the bones in your arms and the ribs in your chest, the skin being the only thing seeming to hold everything together.

You felt terrible, but you pushed your dark thoughts aside, knocking your invisible demons out of the way and resumed the process. Moving your legs, feeling them quiver and shake, you put just enough energy into the action desired and finally stood up. It had been so long and the sudden, small change in pressure almost made you fall over again. Fearing for the worst, you held on to the nearest object, which happened to be a tree.

Waiting for a moment, hoping the dark would past, you heard something, coming from somewhere not too far off.

Trying to take deep breaths and doing your best to clear your vision, you mentally shivered as the noise came closer.

And closer...

And closer...

AND CLOSER...

But then it stopped.

Someone was here. But who? Or could it be something? Then what was it? An animal? An undead? Something... edible?

Could it be..? Realizing your vision had finally cleared, you tempted to take a few steps away from where the sound was coming from, trying to escape danger instead of provoking it. Seemed logical at the time.
