I couldn't stay there and I wanted as much distance between me and that psycho that was possible. My body was weak from always laying down and my stomach twisting in hunger and fear.
I stop, my arms wrapped around chest trying to make the pain go away. I bit my lip to make sure I didn't make any unnecessary noises that may give away my position.
Feeling the pain fade away, I crawled until I reached a vent. My breath caught, seeing body bags hanging upside down and blood dripping down with a splash, a mix of dried and new blood covered the floor like a sickly paint. I looked in horror, the body bags too small to be an adult but for smaller children.
I shoved the vent cover, it popping off easily. Crawling out, I tensed up as I felt the atmosphere shift with an dangerous presence.
"H-Hello?" I forced out a raspy soft voice. It was the first time I opened my mouth to talk in a few months so it was painful. Thud. I jumped, my arms instantly broke out in goosebumps. "Hello?" A squeak of a little boy let out, hiding behind one of the body bags in the back.
"Hey there." I rasped, which turned into a dry cough. The little boy jumped at the sound and stumbled back in pure fear. "Hey its okay I won't hurt you." I told him, holding my hand out gently, trying to get rid of the painful event.
"I-I'm scared." He whimpered, walking over to me who kept looking around as if something was going to sudden pop out. "Scared? Are you all alone?" I asked, kneeling down to him. "No! I have to find my sister!" He told me, his eyes shining in pure innocence but shaking in fear of the unknown.
"When did you lose her?" I asked. He looked up at me and his eyes watering up. "It was him! He-He hurt her and he took her here. I didn't know there was so many people sleeping with my sister." He muttered, making my blood run cold.
"Your sister is in one of those bags?" I asked, my words sunk into dread as the boys head gave a slight nod. "Yes but I can't get her down." The boy told her, pointing to a bag hanging above me, dripping with a rich crimson red liquid, mixing with the 'lovely' paint job from below. Some parts were a rich and bright red and others were a dull and lifeless red that dried up.
I opened my mouth, only for a loud slam to echo through the room. Instinct flared through my body, grabbing the kid and ducking into a locker. I put my finger to my lips, hoping he would get the hint to be completely silent.
"You not only lost one but two?!" An angry growl that I haven't heard before was getting close. "I'm looking for them okay! It hasn't happened in a while alright? Just give me a break for once!" A familiar voice barked, annoyed and stressed.
The boy started to cry so I gently pulled him close to me, hoping he wouldn't make a sound. "Just find them! You lost a teenager! A teenager that is capable of knowing how to use a phone! To escape!" The unfamiliar female voice. She sounded like she was a smoker.
"The damn kid has been isolated from society for three years in total darkness. I'd be surprised if she even knew her name let alone use a phone." The voice growled. I knew they were talking about me and I knew the familiar voice was definitely the doctor. Though, he was somewhat wrong. I don't know my real name but I knew my nickname. "You think that'll stop her from trying to escape!? She may be a kid but she isn't stupid!" She growled. "I'm working on it okay?" The doctor muttered making the girl growl but nodded.
"Let's go, I'll send these bodies to the kitchen. We'll eat good tonight." The girl said with a laugh as they walked out. I waited until I couldn't hear them anymore. Once I heard them fade and disappear, I helped boy out too and headed for a door. I didn't know where it'll lead to but there was one way to find out.
"What about my sister!" The boy cried, tugging on my sleeve. "She's not getting up, why don't I be your sister?" I asked softly, my voice getting used to talking. He looked back at the hanging body bags before at me with a sad but excited look. "Okay!" He said with a small smile. "Great. You can call me Jamie. Stay close okay?" I warned him, grabbing his little hand and pushed opened the door.
