I clenched my stomach to quiet the grumbling. We didn't have any food because usually, the doctor himself feeds every one of his patients so they didn't die prematurely. Though, we weren't his patients anymore so he didn't care. His job would be a whole lot easier if we just died but I wasn't going to let Lucas die. He deserved to see the light, to see his parents. God, they must be worried about him, the police may have either presumed him to be dead or they may still be looking.

What about my parents? Has my mom come back from traveling to look for me? Has she finished looking for her 'other half' of herself that she said she lost? Will she come back for me? What about my father? Is he still in his room in our rundown apartment? Have those people stopped yelling at him for money? Did he stop leaving those bottles everywhere? Has he stopped crying about my mom?

I was brought out of my thoughts by Lucas waking up. I was just walking around aimlessly that I forgot where we were going. I mentally slapped myself for being so stupid. Thinking about my problems at a time like this won't help.

"Where are we?" He wondered out loud, sleepily. "Don't worry, do you think you can walk?" I asked. In a response, I felt him jumped down and walk beside me. I heard his stomach growl but he didn't say anything. It broke my heart, knowing he couldn't say he was hungry because it would only put stress on both of us.

I let out a sigh and went into a room. My stomach turned in dread but my eyes landed on something extremely important. I hastily grabbed the phone and shoved it in my pocket and handed cans and bags of food to Lucas, whose eyes filled with joy. My mouth watered at the sight of the can of peas.

We sat down and I pulled out my pocket knife I kept in case of emergencies. I stabbed the can and opened it, handling the peaches to Lucas. He gulped it down, not caring if it tasted back and most likely didn't even chew. I opened a can of green beans and we took bog handfuls, stuffing our mouths greedily. The last can I opened was a big can of peas. I knew Lucas was getting full so I proceeded to take huge handfuls and stuff my mouth full, barely chewing.

We finished and stood up, I felt the energy flow through my body and clear my head. Lucas looked brighter before his smile faded, along with the color of his face. "Wha-?" Before I could even open my mouth, I felt something grab my neck and lifted me up. I fiddled with my knife and stuck it into their shoulder.

They let out an unfamiliar but painful yelp. I snatched Lucas's hand and ran out of the room. He looked at me with fearful eyes when I shoved him into a small crawlspace. "Get out of here. Don't find me. There's a window right above you so get out alright?" I told him frantically. "What?! No! No, no, no!! Please! I can't leave you." He looked like he was straining and tensing up as he begged me, his eyes watering up. "Trust me, I'm not dying in the fucking place," I told him before running away.

"Get back here!" The person screeched, grabbing the back of my shirt and flung me down onto the concrete floor. I had skidded and ended up having scraps on my knees and elbows. "Come on, now you're going to have your teeth checked on." The person growled. My stomach turned as the picked me up as I realized who it was. She was known as the Dentist.
