Chapter 6

Me and Mr. Kent has been on this call for like 10 minutes .Nothing important has come up yet , so I'm questioning his reason for calling .It was like he was reading my mind through the phone . " Anyway the actual reason i wanted to call ,is uh I wanted to know if you wanted to meet up for dinner tonight ?"he asks but I could hear he was a little unsure of himself . "I actually have some stuff to sort out , so Ill probably only finish up here by 19 : 00 -ish .Is it okay if we meet at about 20:00 tonight ?" I have a long night ahead . "yeah definitely , should I pick you up at the office ?" he asks but I don't think its gonna work .

"uh no , I'm going to race home to change so Ill meet you there . Where do you wanna meet ?" he told me that he will send me the location later. " okay that sounds like a plan ." I said . "yeah . I have to go but ill see you later." he answered . "okay bye see you later .." I said and he replied with a bye before I hang up .

I had some schoolwork that needed to be done . In two months ill be done with my studying and hopefully have my diploma . I don't know if I will go into the beauty world immediately after my graduation . My dream is to own my own salon and spa one day but I also want to start from the bottom like everybody has to .

Crystal also wanted to go in to the beauty world with me , she loved doing makeup and styling . We dreamed about how we would work together one day , how I would do the clients hair and she their makeup , but she changed her mind and last year changed her studies to journalism . I'm happy that she found what she really wanted to do , but I'm also sad that we weren't gonna finish this dream that we had started .

I was done with my schoolwork and all I needed to do was sign a few things and print two or three quotes for potential clients . I actually got done a lot earlier then I thought I would . Jenny walked into my office with her handbag . "are you going anywhere ?" I asked her ,knowing it wasn't her time to leave yet . We still have about an hour left before we leave . "yeah , that is what I wanted to talk to you about ." she says with a shy smile . "okay . What's up ?" . "well I have an appointment to go to , and I taught because its a slow afternoon that I could go ?" she asks putting her hands together .

"What do you mean slow afternoon ? Its always this quiet before everyone leaves ." I chuckle ." yeah but I mean everybody left already . Its only you and me left here . " where did everybody go ?

"what where did everybody go ?" I ask curious why my staff would just leave without asking me . They all still have about an hour on the clock . " I don't know , I thought you said that they could leave early.." "no I didn't . but its okay you can go , I'm going to wait a little while for Devon ." she smiled but then frowned . "Char , the two hours are over ...you cant always take it upon yourself to fix them .He made up his mind , there is nothing more you can do ." " I'm not trying to fix him Jen , but I don't want him to throw this job and his friends away. But enough about Devon , more about me...Guess what ." she looked suspicious ." what ?"she said slowly. I told her that i was going out with Mr. Kent tonight and she almost freaked out . " What ...good for you Char . " I thanked her and almost drifted into my thoughts when she spoke up . " I'm going to go , but good luck with tonight . Remember have fun . " "Thank you , I'm going to try . Bye see you tomorrow. " she left and I was alone again .

I have been waiting for Devon now and its already 18:00. I feel disappointed. I gave him a chance, but I cant have him on my team anymore . I decided to call him, I didn't want to do this but he left me no choice. The phone rang a few times before he picked up . He started talking right away . "Listen Charlotte , I cant come today or tom.." irritated by his attitude I cut him off . "no ..That's not the reason I phoned you . I just want to let you know that you don't have to come back to work ." he was silent for a moment . "What ?" he asked . " you are no longer part of this team .I will have anything you have here brought to my office , where you can come pick it up whenever you are ready or free . I said in a stern voice . "okay , I'm not sure when that will be , but ill come by in this week ." he said , but I could hear the disappointment in his voice ." have a good night Devon ." I heard a faint bye before I hung up . I cant believe I just fired him . I rest my elbows on my desk and rest my face in my hands .

I decided to try not think about it tonight .oh I forgot ..I check my watch and see its 18:12 , I have more time to get ready for tonight . I locked up after I made a note to have a team meeting tomorrow morning .
