After what felt like an hour, I come to my senses. I rush to my seat and cross my arms defensively. Maybe it wasn't that long, for it seems nobody had noticed anything. I take out my notebook and a pen, just in case. I don't know what class this is, and I can't find the motivation to find out. The class continues, but a handful of students keeps turning around and staring at me. I hardly notice, unable to keep my eyes off the front spot. I don't know why, but I keep staring at her, for the entire duration of the class.

It isn't until everyone arounds me starts packing their bags that I can tear my eyes from her. I shake my head and restore my thoughts. Class has ended, and I missed everything. A few guys walk up to her and nod in my direction. They did notice. I can feel myself turning red instantly. I grab my things and rush out. I recognize one of my classmates, and follow him from a distance. He'll know where to go. He then turns around and looks at me. He taps his friend on the shoulder and points at me. Both of them start laughing. I immediately slow down and try to get behind, trying not to hear why they're laughing at me. But it seems this only worsens things, as their laughter only increases in volume. I decide to just ignore them and keep walking.

They make a sharp turn left, and I follow. But when I get to the corner, they're nowhere to be found. They've successfully lost me. I stand in the middle of the hallway, lost, with no idea as to where I'm supposed to go.

"Don't know where to go?" I hear someone ask behind me. When I turn around, I see her, waiting for my response with a warm and tender smile. Her eyes seem to be smiling as well, radiating, emanating a warm, brown glow. She bats her eyes at me, her long, curled lashes caressing her cheeks.

"Lex? Are you okay?" she asks me.

I blink, realizing I've been staring at her, again. I want to apologize, but it feels as though I've lost my voice. I can't get the words out. She smiles at me again.

"I'm Leilani," she says, and I can tell she wants to hold out her hand. Even before she can get to that point, I jolt backwards. I stare at her hand, afraid she might try to touch me, but she pulls back right away and puts her palm against her forehead.

"I'm sorry, you don't like to be touched. I completely forgot!" She sighs.

"Come, walk with me, I know where to go."

She smiles at me yet again and starts walking. I follow her, clueless. I feel like a complete idiot, why won't I just say something? What will she think of me now?

"Don't pay any attention to Sven and Davey. In fact, don't pay any attention to any of them. They're a bunch of untrained baboons, only capable of throwing their butts around."

From deep inside a strange feeling comes crawling to the surface. It's almost as if... yes, as if I'm close to laughing. I'm barely able to control it. I don't laugh, ever.

She walks into a classroom and turns to me.

"Come sit with us during lunch break, we are fully evolved," she says, looking at Sven.

He just straightens his shoulders and smiles at her. What a peacock. I nod and scurry back to my seat. She gives me a look that tells me she has no idea what to do with me. I don't even know what to do with me, Leilani, you're not the only one. But still... I feel different now. I feel guilty, even though I don't know why. Maybe I was a bit too rude. Maybe I should give talking to her a shot. Maybe that won't be so bad.
