Coming back to bite me.

After a few weeks in Brown-town Nicole and Sarah were adjusting quite well, Nicole had almost completely forgotten about her old life she left behind in Texas, she really enjoyed spending time with Matt and his family, they accepted her and her daughter as their own.

One day, the boys decided to go into town for some parts for an old four wheeler they were trying to fix to run. Nicole asked if she could go, since she hadn't been off the island since she first got there, Matt told her she was more than welcome to come along. Nicole kissed her daughter Sarah goodbye, and thanked billy, Ami, and the girls for watching Sarah. She and the boys bid their farewells and they were off.

Bam was the captain of the Integrity, since he was the most responsible, and Bear, Matt, and Gabe were deckhands, they helped to tie off the boat when they were docked, and Noah was there if anything went wrong electrical wise, and he was also a good navigator.
Nicole watched Matt and Bam stand side by side as bam steered, and assumed Matt was his righthand man. They were both talking about how choppy the water was and what needed to be done if it was too choppy on their way back. Noah was just outside the wheelhouse leaning against the railing watching the water, and Bear and Gabe were on the platform on top hollering and laughing as they swung out on the boom arm over the water. They were a crazy bunch, but Nicole couldn't think of another place she'd rather be. She sat at the table and held her pregnant belly looking out the window and thinking of how happy she was with a baby on the way, Matt by her side, and her daughter as happy as could be.

It wasn't long before they made it Hoonah, the boys anchored the boat to the dock and all split off to find the parts needed for their project, except Noah, he decided to stay back with the boat, Matt and Bam went together, and Gabe and bear went together. Nicole decided to go for a walk by herself around some of the shops in town. As Matt and Nicole went their separate ways, she looked back at him to see him already looking back at her, she smiled and blew him a kiss, he smiled back a cheeky smile and waved.
Nicole turned back around smiling to herself when she heard something that stopped her dead in her tracks. She looked up and saw Jason.
"And what the hell are you doing here?"
He said with anger in his voice.
Nicole was at a loss for words, she couldn't believe he was really standing right there in front her.
"What's the matter cat got your tongue?"
She still didn't say anything, she was frozen from fear, everything inside her was telling her to run, but she couldn't move. Jason chuckled and walked closer to her and tucked her hair behind her ear.
"You'll speak when your spoken too, am I clear? Now tell me what the hell you're doing here?" Nicole looked down at her hands and saw they were trembling, she swallowed hard and looked up at Jason.
"I...I live here...I live here now...me and...me and Sarah...how did you find me here?"
Jason chuckled.
"Well you can thank your daughter for that, she left me a drawing of you and her in Alaska, and she left a note saying
'I'm sad you can't come to Alaska with us daddy, Im gonna miss you.'"
Nicole felt her heart drop.
Jason took in a deep breath and grabbed Nicole's face, looking her dead in the eye.
"You listen to me. You're gonna get your stuff and Sarah, and you're gonna get on that plane with me back to Texas."
Nicole's breathing got really heavy, she didn't know what to do.
"I...I... I can't leave."
Jason's eyes were drunk and angry, he squeezed her face tighter.
"And why can't you leave? Are you scared to come back? Scared I'm gonna hurt you?Is that it?"

"Jason...I'm...I can't leave, cause I'm pregnant..."
he Released his grip on her, and backed away, he put his hands on his hips, he worked his jaw and blinked wildly.
Nicole stood there waiting for him to say something...anything. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath.
"Who is he?"
Nicole could hear him holding back the anger in his voice.
"It doesn't matter Jason, we're through."
He looked at her and shook his head,
"What the hell do you mean it doesn't matter?! We're married! Tell me who the hell is he?" His voice rose in anger and people started staring. Jason's breathing became erratic. Nicole felt tears streaming down her face, cause Jason was scaring her, she was just waiting for him to hit her. She looked down at her feet and let her tears hit the side walk.
She figured there was no point in lying to him.
"His name is Matt, Matt brown...me and Sarah are living with him and his family."
Jason smiled and shook his head.
"I'm gonna kill him. I'm gonna kill that fucking bastard, he can't take my wife and my daughter, that's every mans right."
Nicole yelled and tried to stop him
"No, Jason please!!"
he shoved her on the ground and started running the same way Matt and Bam went. She stood up as fast as she could and ran after Jason, who was already a good ways up the road, she could see Matt and Bam just up the way and stared yelling Matt's name, he turned around and when he did he got a roundhouse punch to the face. Jason punched him so hard he lost his balance and they were both on the ground, Matt stood up just as quick as he could and and turned around to see Jason swinging at him again, this time he ducked and Jason missed, Matt popped up and punched as hard as he could right on his nose, he heard it crack when his knuckles made contact, he thought for sure he broke Jason's nose, at this point Bam realized what was happening and helped Matt tackle him the rest of the way to the ground. Bam had his arms restrained and Matt was kneeling on top of him with his knee in the middle of his back. Jason had blood gushing out of his nose and ear, he was breathing heavy and squirming trying to break lose. When Nicole finally got there, she put her hand over her mouth and cried.
"I'm so sorry Matt... I'm so sorry."
Matt had blood coming out his lip,
He looked back at Nicole
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you?"

"No Matt, I'm fine. I'm fine."

By this time, the police had been called from some people who had watched the whole thing. They handcuffed Jason and put him in the back of the car, they asked Nicole what happened and she told them the whole thing, even the parts about how he use to beat her, and how he was an alcoholic and how abusive he was. The police thanked Matt and Bam for holding him till they got there, then they left and took him to jail.
After they left Matt hugged Nicole and rubbed her back.
"It's gonna be alright, he can't hurt you anymore." Nicole buried her head in his chest and cried. She never wanted it to go down like this, she wished Matt had never gotten hurt, but she was glad he was there to take care of Jason.
