It was the Saturday morning before the dance and Lily was out dress shopping by herself the theme for the dance was Silk, that meant they had to find something to wear that was made of silk. Most girls had already bought their dresses weeks ago but Lily hadn't because she had assumed that she wouldn't be going.
She made her way to the lifts that would take her to the shopping floor where she was sure that she could find something to wear for the dance. With a grin, Lily tolerated the irritating lift music and dreamed in her head what could happen tonight. When the doors opened to the pandimonium of the shopping floor Lily inwardly groaned, it was a Saturday and that meant that it was sales day and everyone would be here.
Feeling like a fish swiming against the tide, Lily made her way to one of the many dress shops, eager to find something and get home, she hated shopping the assistants were just too happy and refused to leave you alone to find soething to wear in peace. With a deep breath she walked into the shop and was immediately assulted by a smiling shop assistent, "I'm sorry but if you're looking for a silk dress for the dance I can't help you, we're all out and the silk makers are having a problem with the silk worms so we won't have anything in for a while." The assistant looked sad, as if she actually was sorry, nodding and smiling at her Lily left without a word and moved onto the next shop but the, too were in the same position and so was the next shop and the next shop, in fact all the shops just said they didn't have anything else and the silkworms weren't making silk.
Disheartened and with nothing to wear to the dance Lily once again entered the lift, the music this time fouling her mood further until when she finally got to her room she felt the need to punch something. When she opened the door her father was sitting on her bed with a black suit bad and a grin. "I knew they were out of silk so I brought out one of mum's old dresses for you to wear, and don't worry it's made of silk. But I have work to do so I'll leave you to it." He chirped, happy as ever, and left the room. That was how it had always been her dad working leaving Lily to deal with everything that cropped up but after a while she'd grown used to it and had built the walls around herself. Unzipping the bag Lily found a baeutiful emerald green silk dress waiting for her, with a small smile she tenderly picked it up and lay it on the bed for when she got ready for what was looking to be a great night.
