Chapter Two: Are you with me, or against me?

Watching that boy stop dead in his tracks when I spoke up was probably one of the cutest things I've seen in quite some time. It's pretty refreshing to see something cute for a change, rather than something that makes you want to erase your memory, go back in time, or just kill yourself. The dark haired male turned to face me, his face practically screamed 'What the fuck' , and that was actually quite hilarious. It was so funny, even a small chuckle slipped from my lips; causing the tan fellow to blush. The deep crimson blush that began to litter his cheeks was even more hilarious, and quite adorable. I was beginning to view this man who was most likely older than me, as a child. It was probably wrong,  it I couldn't help myself. This man in front of me was the closest thing to a puppy I've seen in years.

The eye contact between us lasted longer than I felt was comfortable, so I began the search to find something else to focus on. My eyes stayed glued to my tattered, worn down shoes for what felt like an eternity. I had forgotten what they looked like, considering they're usually covered in blood or dirt. However I had to run through a little river earlier, so that had cleaned my shoes off for the most part. I looked up and opened my mouth to say goodbye to this odd man, who seemed captivated by me, but before I could form my words, the foreign looking man started to cry. His cried started out quiet and questionable, however they grew into shaking, loud sobs. It was apparent that the sobbing baby in front of him had never been put in front of somebody he'd tried to kill before. "I'm sorry!" He cried out, his voice deep despite his crying making his voice crack and shake.

It was quite shocking to see the person who had just tried to kill you moments ago, and would've succeeded if I weren't immortal, crying and having a bit of a breakdown over the thought of trying to kill me. I approached the male who seemed to have a warm heart and let out a little sigh as I placed a gentle hand on his shoulder; the male jumped a little bit, indicating that he either wasn't used to touching, or he had experienced some sort of violence in his life. However, considering the chaotic state the world was in, it wasn't much of a surprise that he's experienced harsh things in his life.

I ran my hand to the middle of the muscular males back and smiled to him as I felt my roses disappear, and wilt away. I imagined there was a nasty scar over my eye. I could almost feel the scar tissue pushing against my eye; it was a disgusting feeling, though I knew I'd get used to it with time. I looked up to the tan male and brought my hand up to his face, to move the hair from his eyes. "You know, you shouldn't be showing so much weakness to somebody you just met. I could be trying to kill you for all you know" I'm a very charming man, as you can tell. I just radiate sex appeal, and I'm the perfect specimen... I'm kidding, I know that really wasn't the best thing to say in this moment. But shit happens. The male stared at me like I had just slapped his mother in the face, and it was apparent that he saw truth in my words. He seemed shocked that, A. I had even said that, and B. That he was even showing any form of emotion around me. It didn't take but a moment before he gathered himself and stood confidently again, trying to act as if he didn't just bawl and beg for forgiveness.

A small, somewhat irritated sigh left my lips; "You do realize I was only kidding, correct? If I wanted to kill, or harm you, you'd already be dead. Trust me." I gave him a little smirk once I explained to him that I wasn't a threat. His cute little face screamed how much he didn't believe me though. I let out another exasperated sigh, "Believe me or not; its your problem if you decide to assume I'm lying. You'd be losing the best partner you'd ever have" I said with a blunt tone in my voice. I know I can be an asshole sometimes, and that I mess around too much on occasion.. I knew I was a good partner to have in survival situations... especially since I'm immortal.. So it makes sense. He shot me a look as if I were crazy, and yes, some might say I am. I didn't consider myself to be crazy though, so I furrowed my eyebrows back at him, "Don't be that way. I'm immortal, and I have healing powers.. What else do you really need? You need to stay healthy, and alive. I can help with both"

A long, heavy sigh came from the mans lips; I began to wonder if he even spoke much English, since he wasn't speaking all that much. Eventually, I got a soft, "You're a huge prick" from the very polite male. I smirked quite widely; a laugh even spilling from my throat "How charming" I commented. I smiled a bit upon seeing I got an eye roll from the man.

"What's your name?" I asked curiously. It was only natural to want to know the name of your potential partner. He stayed silent, looking as if he were contemplating telling me his name. I started to wonder about who had hurt him so much that he didn't even want to give out his first name. I took the moment to myself to enjoy the little bit of sunset peeking from the break in the trees. The sun was just beginning to fall below the horizon, and I knew it was going to get dark soon. That worried me and I hoped this guy would figure our his name sooner so we could get this ball on the roll. I did try my hardest not to get worried about what was going to happen if this guy didn't hurry up, though.

A long few moments passed, and I was about to say something to the male, but as I opened my mouth to speak, and lightly scold him for being so slow about this when time wasn't really on their side. "Myst..." his voice was sweet, and smooth like butter. I found this human more and more adorable, the longer I spent time with him. "Hm, now you speak? I'm Miles" I figured it was only fair to share my name with him as well. Plus maybe it would build some sort of trust  between us if he knew I was more than fine giving my name out to him. He gave me a side eye, like he was trying to determine whether or not I was to be trusted. "Please don't worry... I'm with you. I know you don't know me very well.. but I can help you. I can sneak up on zombies, and they do not attack me because I share the scent of one. However, unlike them, I can also heal myself and others. I have an advantage that you need. You will not survive alone out here, Myst. Let's be partners. We will thrive much better together than we will apart.."

Myst stared at me for a long moment before looking away again. I could see the redness in his cheeks, and I could tell when he was blushing, considering his ears always got red, too. I smirked a little when I saw how cute and blushy he was being. I bit at my lip "So... What do you say? Will you join me?" I asked in a very charming, almost seductive tone; knowing humans were easily persuaded by sex. It almost made me laugh out loud to see Myst's reaction to the tone of his voice. "Fine... You can come with me" he grumbled with a little huff. I smiled seeing how cute and stubborn he was being; Humans were quite fussy sometimes, but I didn't want to be so damn lonely anymore.

I had spent my life alone, fending for myself since my mother died, and I was separated from my brother, and father. I didn't know where they were, but its been many years and there was no point in assuming they were alive. I had assumed they were dead many years ago; Ive already mourned them, and accepted it. I was alone in this world, but now that Myst was here, I didn't exactly have to be. It's gonna be more comparable to babysitting a toddler, but a toddler is better than nothing. At least maybe Ill have somebody to show off to, and impress.

I realized I had spent a good amount of time being silent, and that Myst was giving me an odd look. "Well, do you have a camp? Show it to me, human!" I said in a stern voice like I had been waiting on him, rather than just being caught up in my thoughts. His full eyebrows furrowed together in confusion as he nodded and started walking in the direction of his camp. I hoped that it was at least decent. I didn't want to be stuck in some dirty, ratty camp. Mine was wonderful before it had been rudely infested with wolves, but I wasn't about to fight like 12 of those things. No thank you.

I looked up at the man walking in front of me, his hair was getting a little long, I wondered if he had a way to cut it. I began to admire him without even realizing it; he was attractive, but definitely not my type. I would prefer someone stronger than me; someone who can take control, and kinda put me in my place.. Because lets face it, I can be too much sometimes. However some people find that charming. I didn't want somebody like that. I began to wonder if I'd ever find somebody in this apocalypse. I'm not sure of a lot of things.. one thing I am sure of, is that Myst will never, ever be my type.
