The day was cloudy as Will worked on anengine for a motor boat. His dogs laid out around his bedroom. AsWill was fixing up parts he heard loud yelp. He stopped and lookedaround thinking it was a jogger with a dog passing by or maybe it wasnothing...

He went back to work, but a few secondslater he heard another yelp along with some sort of howl. The dogsperked their heads up and looked around as well. Will put down histools and decided to check out the noise.

He put on a coat as he walked outsidehis farmhouse and walked towards the direction he thought the noisewas coming from. He then heard something again. It was a faint howl.He walked further into a field with left over snow. He looked overthe wide field and the trees of the forest. No more noises wereheard. Will turned in different directions in case the source of thenoises was caught in sight.

A few hours later, he had called Alanaof the situation and had asked her to help him find the animal thatmight be hurt somewhere. Sure enough she showed up and both walkedaround the field.

"It wasn't a coyote, the coyotesprobably got it." Will said still looking around.

"You're not expecting to find italive are you?" Alana said walking up next to him.

"We'd be lucky to find a paw" Willanswered while Alana looked at him.

"So, you invited me over to help youfind animal parts?" Alana asked making Will chuckle.

"I invited you over on the off chancewe do find it alive. It's harder to wrangle wounded animal bymyself." Will paused.

"Did you think it was a date?"

"Honestly, it never crossed my mind"Alana replied.

"Oh" Will says disappointed, "Whynot?"

Alana informs him that theses days shethinks too much and hadn't thought about whether to just think lessor just let it happen naturally. Will came to a stop to make a finalobservation of the area.

"You see anything?" she asked.

"Uh, no actually. I don't even seeany tracks, I mean except the ones we made" Will said.

Alana was in deep thought as sheglanced at the field. Alana had a suspicion he used the situationjust so he got to spend time and talk with her. Will on the otherhand, didn't understand. He knew he heard something. But with notracks or blood trail, it seemed like there wasn't anything out here. But one thought came to him, what if he just imagined hearing it ormaybe he was missing something. Alana went home shortly after andWill went back inside his house to feed his dogs.
